As for replacements, the Packers turned to a variety of newcomers to patch together the back end of the secondary.Tramon WilliamsHow acquired: Signed a two-year $10 million contract, including $4.75 millions guaranteed and a $3.75 million signing bonusStats: 16 games started (7 at cornerback, 9 at safety) 54 tackles, one fumble recovery, two passes defendedTramon Williams was brought back to Green Bay as a veteran presence to mentor all the young cornerbacks on the roster. He started the first seven games at corner before being flipped to free safety for the rest of the season after the trade of HaHa Clinton-Dix. Williams was solid in his starts at corner and continued his solid play at safety. While tackling had never been a strong suit for him at corner, he was not afraid to come up and make a tackle near the offensive line or attempt to make a tackle in open space. The most significant improvement that Williams brought was in coverage. While he didn’t grab an interception, he used his cornerback instincts and techniques to take away the deep middle of the field. While switching to a new position is never easy mid-season, Williams brought stability and consistency to the safety position. Williams is under contract for 2019 but may be a cap casualty as his salary cap hit will be $6.375 million. That may too much to digest if the Packers sign one of the several high end free agent safeties available. Ibraheim CampbellHow acquired: Claimed off waivers from the New York Jets on November 5th. Campbell brought some veteran depth after the trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. While Campbell has never fully caught on with a team yet, the Packers were his third team in 2018, but he brought some familiarity to Mike Pettine’s defense from when the two shared time in Cleveland.Campbell jumped into Pettine’s defense quickly and became a very good pickup. His snaps and stats increased each week. His best game was his lone start against the Cardinals. He registered most of his season stats with eight tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. Unfortunately, Campbell was injured in that Cardinals game and was placed on injured reserve on December 4th. Campbell should get strong consideration in being brought back in 2019.Eddie PleasantHow acquired: Signed a one-year $790,000 contractStats: (Arizona and Green Bay) six games played (one start), eight tackles Womens Kevin King Jersey , one tackle for lossEddie Pleasant was signed on November 28th after the Packers cut linebacker Korey Toomer. Pleasant was cut by the Cardinals prior to coming to Green Bay and he brought another veteran safety presence and some depth to a depleted roster. His signing proved to be well timed as Ibraheim Campbell went on injured reserve a week later. While Pleasant didn’t get the playing time that Campbell did, he was a decent backup to have for Josh Jones and Tramon Williams. He was only on the field for 85 snaps and registered minimal stats during his five games in Green Bay. In a not so pleasant memory for him, his most memorable play in Green Bay was the dropped interception against Arizona that would have stopped the drive where Arizona kicked the game winning field goal. With an influx of young safeties signed to futures contracts at the end of the year, the Packers will have to make a decision on whether or not to bring Pleasant back for 2019. Raven GreeneHow acquired: Signed as an undrafted rookie: Three years, $1.7 million contractStats: five games played, five tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one pass defensedRaven Greene had a great training camp and made the initial 53-man roster. While Greene did not get a significant amount of snaps on defense, he did play a large roll on special teams. Greene’s best game of the season came against Miami. Greene played 30 snaps on defense and gained his sack and defensed pass. On December 8th, his season ended on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Greene figures to be a strong member of the special teams going forward and should continue to improve the depth at safety in 2019. You get varying opinions and answers depending upon who you talk to, and sometimes, depending upon what day you talk to those people.You know the narratives. The Giants might select a quarterback with their first pick at No. 6, and that might be the already-Twitter-trashed Daniel Jones of Duke. They might not take a quarterback at all in the draft, kicking the can into 2020. GM Dave Gettleman is “crazed” to land a top-tier pass rusher. Gettleman will use those 12 picks to move all around the board over the draft’s three days. After all of the controversial moves they have made, Gettleman and the Giants have to hit a home run in the draft.Let’s discuss what we think regarding each of these narratives as the minutes tick toward the Arizona Cardinals officially being on the clock to begin Thursday’s proceedings. I am not going to use the phrase “what we know” because, if the draft teaches us anything it’s that no one really “knows” anything until it actually happens. Draft analysts and scribes like yours truly do everything we can to ferret out some information and learn as much as we possibly can about what teams are thinking. Teams, on the other hand, do everything they can to make sure no one really learns anything. Somewhere in the middle we get some signals, somewhat of a feel or an indication which players a team likes or doesn’t like and what they hope accomplish in the draft.As such, what you read from here on out will be my best guess at figuring out what might unfold for the Giants beginning Thursday night.Pick No. 6“Hurry up and turn in the card”This, I believe, will be the attitude in the Giants’ War Room if Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams [prospect profile] or Kentucky edge Josh Allen [prospect profile] slide to them at No. 6. Forget quarterback, offensive tackle or whatever. If one of these two is somehow available I believe GM Dave Gettleman snags one, thanks his lucky stars Darius Slayton NFL Draft , and figures out the rest later. LSU linebacker Devin White [prospect profile] might also fit into this category.Other non-QBs possible at No. 6Depending upon what happens in front of them, the next tier of defenders could include Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver, Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary [prospect profile] and Mississippi State edge Montez Sweat.Gettleman has been clear that he wants to add an impact player along the front line of the defense. “I have always been a big believer that if you look at the great defenses, they have a lead dog in every level. A legitimate playmaker at every level of their defense. I said it at the postseason presser and I will say it again, we need some defensive playmakers,” Gettleman said at his pre-draft press conference.Asked who the playmakers were on the current defense, he mentioned linebacker Alec Ogletree and safeties Antoine Bethea and Jabrill Peppers. He didn’t mention any of his edge players or interior linemen.It’s long been known that the Giants have been enamored with Sweat, but health and background concerns might push him out of consideration this early. What about Gary and Oliver? Despite the lack of college production appearing to push Gary down on some draft boards, I hear his name connected to the Giants more often than Oliver’s. For the Giants, I think Gary could still be in play at this spot.If the Giants want to go for a hog mollie on the other side of the ball at this point, the likely choice is Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams [prospect profile]. He would slide in at right tackle. The Giants, to my knowledge also like Andre Dillard of Washington State — just maybe not enough to take him this early.Is anyone in this group of players enough of a value to keep the Giants from selecting a quaterback at No. 6? About those quarterbacksGettleman and the Giants have told us over and over they want “value” with each of their picks, that quarterback is not a special category and that they won’t reach in the draft to find an heir apparent to Eli Manning and kick start their succession plan.“I won’t force a pick,” Gettleman said. “You can’t draft for need. You will get screwed every time and make a mistake.”Dwayne Haskins has seemingly been campaigning for the job as the Giants’ next quarterback. Unless they have conducted a massive and successful ruse, though, it doesn’t seem like the love is mutual. There are those who believe Missouri’s Drew Lock is the Giants’ guy. More and more, though Darius Slayton Buffalo Bills Jersey , the quarterback conversation turns to Daniel Jones [prospect profile]. He is Mark Schofield’s sixth-ranked quarterback in this class, but Schofield acknowledges that his view “differs wildly” from that of many in the league. Gil Brandt compares him to Peyton Manning, and there are many who think a solid number of teams have Jones as QB2 in this draft.Ralph Vacchiano of SNY had this on Wednesday:Me? I absolutely buy the notion that the Giants have Jones at the top of their quarterback board. If you buy the whole “if he’s your quarterback just take him and don’t get cute” theory — and Jones is, indeed, their guy — they pretty much have to take him at No. 6 and deal with upgrading the defense later.Pick No. 17 Quarterback in play here, if ...Yes, if the Giants don’t take a quarterback with the sixth overall pick I believe it is a possibility here. It is not, by any means, a certainty. It will, however, have to be a consideration. Question is, if they sit tight here and don’t move up the board will one of the top four quarterbacks (Kyler Murray, Lock, Jones, Haskins) be available?This is the spot where Youth Michael Strahan Jerseys , over the past week or so, mock drafts have increasingly given Jones to the Giants. If the Giants pass on Jones at No. 6 and still like him enough it won’t even surprise me if they move up a few spots to ensure that they get him.The flip side of all of this is that it shouldn’t surprise anyone if the Giants bypass quarterback altogether in the first round. Some believe the guy the Giants really covet as heir to Manning is in the 2020 draft class. We will find out soon enough.Others in play at No. 17 This is a tricky prediction because it’s virtually impossible to know exactly what the pool of players will look like when the Giants are back on the clock.The list starts, of course, with any of the players we have already talked about who are still available at 17. A name I have heard a number of times, and have seen others mention for the Giants at 17, is Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence [prospect profile]. Linebacker Devin Bush of Michigan, Clemson edge Clelin Ferrell, Florida State edge Brian Burns, and — at positions where there is a wide swath of opinion — whoever the Giants have as the top wide receiver or cornerback could be in play.Wheeling and dealingGettleman says this is “a really good draft,” especially in the first four rounds, and that he is “not going to panic.”That, though, doesn’t mean he is going to sit on his hands and wait for his 12 turns. “Look at my history,” Gettleman said at his pre-draft press conference. “I have traded up a bunch of times in Carolina. Last year, we had to sit. We only had the five picks. I was not going to take picks from this year’s draft to move up in last year’s draft. “We are going to do what we need to. If the situation calls for it and there is guy there that we feel can really help us but he is a few picks in front and we are not confident or comfortable that he will fall to us, if we feel the need, we will make the move. Rather than re-invent the wheel, here is what I said: Eagles defensive lineman Michael Bennett was not fined for a roughing the passer penalty in the team’s Week Five loss to the Vikings, but he did hear from the league about a penalty in their Week Six win over the Giants.PFT has confirmed with the league that Bennett has been fined $20,054 after being penalized for roughing Giants quarterback Eli Manning. The penalty came in the second quarter with the Giants deep inside Eagles territory and gave them a fresh set of downs after failing to convert on third down.The Giants still wound up settling for a field goal on the drive after a pair of Manning incompletions.Bennett’s penalty against the Vikings was a more contentious call than the one in the Giants game as he was flagged for hitting Kirk Cousins low after it appeared he was blocked into the quarterback by Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph. Henderson was generally considered the second-best return specialist in the 2018 draft Womens Ryan Connelly Jersey , behind Dante Pettis. In three years at Pitt, Henderson had 73 kickoff returns for 1,942 yards (26.6 per return) and four touchdowns. He also returned punts, beginning in his sophomore year, with his 37 career returns going for 495 yards (13.4 per return), and another three touchdowns. 11 of his 37 returns went for 15 or more yards. He is an exceptional athlete and does aid his offense with his legs. For the Colts:Andrew Luck is 9-0 against the Titans for his career and for the first time in Marcus Mariota’s career there’s some consideration to the idea that this may be the only time the two teams are close enough in record and talent for it to be a relevant game for both franchises.It’s worth considering that the Colts are in the first year of a 3-year rebuild and Vegas expects them to win at home in a close game.The Colts appear to be coming into their own, having won 3 games in a row for the first time since 2016 and appear to be the healthiest they’ve been all year.Given that this is supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Colts, even if the Titans win Jabaal Sheard Jersey , they’re still 1-9 against Luck. He is being waived with an injury designation, which means that if he goes unclaimed on waivers he will go on the Injured Reserve list.Brown, who played his college football at the University of Florida, went undrafted in 2015 and spent time with both the Houston Texans and the Washington Redskins. He was with the Redskins until 2017 Womens George Iloka Jersey , when the team waived him. Minnesota picked him up off of waivers, and he actually spent a decent portion of the 2017 season on the Vikings’ 53-man roster, though he was inactive most weeks.I don’t believe that Brown has any practice squad eligibility left, and if he does I’m not sure that the Vikings would be interested in bringing him back, as they have at least one other player that they could add to the practice squad at the running back spot.We’re still waiting for the final handful of moves for the Vikings to officially hit the wire so that we can bring you the full 53-man roster.
