LOS ANGELES — The first plot twist of the National League Division Series already arrived and the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers have not even played a game. The Dodgers announced that Hyun-Jin Ryu and not Clayton Kershaw will start Game 1 of the series on Thursday at Dodger Stadium http://www.rangersfanproshop.com/authentic-darwin-barney-jersey , even though Kershaw will be on regular rest after last pitching Saturday in San Francisco.A Braves team that finished 18 games below .500 last year and burst upon the scene in 2018 is actually the one with more predictability surrounding it in a series against the defending National League champions. Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz will take the ball in Game 1 as expected for Atlanta.Article continues below ...At face value, the Dodgers’ move to Ryu in Game 1 makes sense because it keeps their rotation in order.Ryu missed 3 1/2 months of the season with a groin strain, then returned Aug. 15 to post a 1.88 ERA in 52 2/3 innings. The left-hander has worked just 82 1/3 innings all season. But his move to the series opener bumps a Dodgers pitching legend to Game 2. Kershaw might not be as overpowering as he once was, but he still finished the season with a 2.73 ERA. And Kershaw can still pitch in a deciding Game 5, if necessary, on regular rest.Kershaw did have a 3.89 ERA in six September starts and gave up a combined eight earned runs in two key starts down the stretch Bartolo Colon Jersey , including five against the Giants on Saturday in a must-win game that the Dodgers ultimately won 10-6.There is no parsing the numbers for Foltynewicz, who emerged this season with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.082 WHIP in 183 innings. His strong late-season run was interrupted when an aggressive St. Louis Cardinals lineup roughed him up for six runs in 4 2/3 innings, but Foltynewicz finished the regular season with two strong starts against the Philadelphia Phillies.“We’ve wanted Folty to be ‘the guy’ for a couple years, and right now, I think he’s establishing himself as our legit first guy,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said Jon Niese Jersey , according to mlb.com. “It wasn’t a hard decision at all.”Foltynewicz’s roughest stretch all season came in a four-start span when he gave up 18 earned runs in 23 1/3 innings. It concluded when he gave up four runs and six hits in five innings, including two home runs, in a 4-1 loss to the Dodgers.Despite vastly different lineups in the second half depending on whether they are facing a right-handed pitcher or a lefty, the Dodgers still managed to hit an NL-leading 235 home runs. They were sixth in the NL with 1,436 strikeouts. The Braves were 13th in the NL with 1,290 strikeouts and eighth with 175 home runs. But they cashed in their chances http://www.rangersfanproshop.com/authentic-edinson-volquez-jersey , finishing fifth in runs with 759. The Dodgers led the category with 804.The Dodgers won the season series 5-2, scoring 5.0 runs per game to the Braves’ 2.6. The Dodgers’ starters also had a 2.20 ERA in the seven games and the Braves were at 4.69.The Dodgers might have lost a Game 7 in the World Series last year and they got off to a slow start this year at 16-26 on May 16, but they are a confident bunch now.“Dodgers, we are going for more,” Yasiel Puig said in the Dodgers’ celebratory clubhouse Monday on Spectrum SportsNet Los Angeles. “Hey, Atlanta Elvis Andrus Jersey , we’ll see you soon, baby. And the next one … no matter who’s going, we’re going to beat (them). And we’re going to the World Series again. And this time we’re going to win the World Series. In 2018, the big party is here in Los Angeles.” SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Mariners will play at T-Mobile Park beginning next year under a new 25-year naming rights deal. The team on Wednesday announced the agreement, which takes effect Jan. 1 and runs through December 2043.The Mariners’ ballpark has been known as Safeco Field since it opened in 1999 as part of a 20-year agreement. But we’ve got to find a way to get those wins. There’s still another level to get to.”The Hurricanes have fallen into holes and had strong starts. There’s not a real trend there.“We’ve shown we can come back too,” Brind’Amour said, acknowledging that assessing personnel is ongoing in some areas. “We’ve got some real pleasant surprises that we didn’t think would be in the mix that have done really well.”The Hurricanes a good dose of shots on net, but they might not be quality opportunities. Those situations also have led to frustrations.“When you don’t score when you have created a lot of chances Youth Dion Phaneuf Jersey , then you press,” Brind’Amour said. “Then it opens up the other way, that’s when you get into trouble.”The Devils have put together some good periods and that’s encouraging for a team that has dealt with some lineup adjustments involving key players.“I think we’re playing with better structure than we were,” New Jersey coach John Hynes said.Devils center Nico Hischier is considered day to day with an upper-body injury, and defenseman Sami Vatanen went on injured reserve Saturday with a lower-body injury.“There’s a possibility (Hischier could play in Raleigh),” Hynes said. ” … He has made very good progress, but now any player in that situation is how can he play when he’s in battles Drew Doughty Jersey , competitive battles and things like that.”Hischier had nine assists for the second most on the team before he sustained the injury last Sunday. As a rookie last season, Hischier produced four points across four games against the Hurricanes.Without Vatanen, whose absence Saturday marked the first game he missed this season, the Devils have to compensate in other ways.“When you lose a guy like Sami, particularly on ‘D,’ you have to have a collective response by your ‘D’ core,” Hynes said. “You’re not going to have one guy to pick up the minutes he plays.”The Hurricanes http://www.officialkings.com/authentic-adidas-dustin-brown-jersey , who are halfway through a six-game homestand, had four days off before this weekend of back-to-back games. Goalie Scott Darling has worked in the last three games, but after a rather ragged outing Saturday night, it’s likely they’ll go in a different direction for the game against New Jersey.Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid played Saturday against Detroit. He was used in all four 2017-18 meetings with the Hurricanes when the Devils posted a 3-1-0 mark. This is the first of four meetings between the teams this season, though the Devils won’t return to Carolina until April. The Flames, on the other hand, are being billed as a contender for a playoff spot after failing to live up to expectations in 2017-18.Pettersson, a 19-year-old center, joins Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser as the offensive leaders for Vancouver. One game in to his career, he’s already impressing.“Nothing seems to faze him,” Horvat told the media in Vancouver. “He doesn’t get too high or too low. From the Calgary bedroom community of Cochrane, the second-round pick from 2017 had an impressive preseason with four goals and two assists. It left general manager Brad Treliving with no choice but to keep the 20-year-old around for the start of the regular season.Although he was asked about his first NHL game prior to face-off on Wednesday, Dube was queried afterward about having teammate Travis Hamonic stand up for him after he was popped by Erik Gudbranson.Turns out, that fight was costly as it left Hamonic with a fractured jaw that on Friday put him on the injured reserved and out week-to-week.Rasmus Andersson was recalled Friday to replace Hamonic. The 21-year-old played 10 games with the Flames last season and was close to making the regular season roster this season. “(Travis) stuck up for me and obviously I have to do a lot for him for the rest of the year. I look up to him because when you do that for a teammate, it means a lot Custom Toronto Maple Leafs Jerseys ,” Dube said.“Gudbranson, he’s a pretty big dude. So when you go up and do that … I just hope he gets back as soon as he can.”Hamonic had this to say about the fight when chatting with Ryan Leslie of Sportsnet on Thursday: “If that were my kid, I’d want someone to do something about it.” CHICAGO (AP) Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook played in his 1,000th regular-season game Thursday night, adding another accomplishment to his impressive career.Seabrook started alongside fellow alternate captain and frequent defensive partner Duncan Keith and played almost 19 minutes in Chicago’s 6-2 victory over Winnipeg. He has appeared in 77 of Chicago’s 78 games this season. Each of the Blackhawks warmed up in Seabrook’s No. 7 jersey, and the franchise recognized the defenseman during a pregame ceremony. He was joined on the ice by his wife and three children and his parents and brother before he was presented with a commemorative silver stick, a painting and a family vacation to Disney World.”It was pretty cool www.officialcanucks.com ,” Seabrook said. ”Special, being here for so many years since I was a 17-year-old baby. Seeing (family) out there was pretty special. They enjoyed it. I saw my daughter’s face when he said the Disneyland trip. It was pretty cool. How many guys come out and present me with these gifts, and what the Blackhawks have done here.”Seabrook, who turns 33 on April 20, was selected by Chicago in the first round of the 2003 draft. He helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015, and also played on Canada’s gold medal-winning team in the 2010 Winter Olympics.Seabrook is the fifth player in franchise history to skate in 1 Vancouver Canucks T-Shirts Authentic ,000 or more games for the team, joining Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull, Eric Nesterenko and Bob Murray.—
CHICAGO (AP) What was left of the United Center crowd was mostly quiet while the final seconds of an era ticked off Tuesday night. There was no big rally for the Chicago Blackhawks. No final charge. It’s over. The NHL playoffs will go on without Chicago for the first time in a decade after the Blackhawks were eliminated from contention with a 5-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Injuries Authentic Phillip Lindsay Jersey , aging stars and inexperience combined to sink Chicago after a wildly successful run that included three Stanley Cup titles.”It’s been a tough, tough stretch here,” coach Joel Quenneville said.Quenneville was coaching Colorado the last time Chicago missed the playoffs. The former NHL defenseman and the Avalanche decided to part ways after the team was swept by Detroit in the second round of the 2008 postseason, and he replaced Denis Savard after the Blackhawks fired the Hall of Famer four games into the following season. What followed was the most successful decade in franchise history. Led by a core group of stars that included Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith, Chicago won three Stanley Cups and reached the conference finals two more times while appearing in the playoffs for nine straight seasons. But it looks as if age and an annual dance with the salary cap might have finally caught up to the Blackhawks (30-35-9), who are last in the Central Division with eight games left on their schedule.”We’ve had some terrific players and some really good teams, real good depth,” Quenneville said. ”We didn’t always have good starts to the season, but had a lot of options to work with as a staff. The building was rocking and we’re good at home http://www.denverbroncosteamonline.com/phillip-lindsay-jersey , and we’re successful on the road, real consistent.”This has been the one year we’ve been unpredictable in our game, and our possession game has been the one area that we’ve nailed. This year, we didn’t get to that level we needed to get to.”An injury to two-time All-Star goaltender Corey Crawford also contributed to Chicago’s rapid decline. The 33-year-old Crawford hasn’t played since Dec. 23 due to an upper-body injury, and it has been a steep drop-off to backups Anton Forsberg, Jean-Francois Berube and Jeff Glass. The Blackhawks also have been without top forward Marian Hossa all season due to severe side effects from medication to treat a progressive skin disorder. It’s unclear if he will ever play again.”You’re always going to have key injuries,” Quenneville said. ”Always going to have significant injuries, have some things go against you. But we’ve always been able to overcome them and find ways rectify some tough situations and get back on track. This year we’ve been unable to do it.”Chicago still might have been able to make a playoff run if not for its other issues. Toews, Keith and key defenseman Brent Seabrook are showing signs of age after years of long playoff runs and international play. The Blackhawks’ young defensemen have experienced some growing pains, and Brandon Saad has struggled in his return to Chicago after an offseason trade with Columbus. But the Blackhawks just got a closer look at a possible roadmap for a return to contention. The Avalanche are in prime position to return to the playoffs after going 22-56-4 last season. Top goaltender Semyon Varlamov is healthy again after playing in just 24 games a year ago. Mikko Rantanen has developed into an offensive presence at age 21 Womens Phillip Lindsay Jersey , and rookie Alexander Kerfoot scored twice against Chicago to get to 17 goals on the season.”There’s a great example in the team we played today, and in how far out you can be, and how quickly you can recapture that winning attitude and that feeling and get right back in the race,” Quenneville said after the Blackhawks’ sixth loss in seven games.”The playoff picture’s probably completely different than a lot of people anticipated. That’s how close teams are when they begin a year, and things can go right from goaltending to special teams to top players. There’s a number of ways where you can make a difference and new young players are certainly a part of that equation.”—Jay Cohen can be reached at http://www.twitter.com/jcohenap— NEW YORK (AP) — Tom Wilson had extra time to work on his skills while serving a suspension during the first 16 games of the season. It’s paid off in a big way for the Washington Capitals since his return.Wilson scored twice, Braden Holtby stopped 32 shots and the Capitals beat the New York Islanders and former coach Barry Trotz 4-1 Monday night for their season-high sixth straight win.Wilson has six goals and five assists in eight games since joining the lineup, including goals in four straight games.“I had lots of time, worked on a little bit of everything,” he said. “I just tried to make sure I could pick up where we left off last year. We were playing some pretty good hockey at the end of last year, some pretty good chemistry going. I just wanted to make sure I jumped in and do whatever I can to get up to speed.”Capitals coach Todd Rierden has noticed the difference in Wilson’s play.“His overall puck handling is at a different level than it’s been in the past Cheap Kerryon Johnson Jersey ,” Rierden said. “It comes back to him maximizing his opportunity and he’s been outstanding for us.”Nic Dowd and Alex Ovechkin also scored for Washington, which won after giving up the first goal for the fifth time during its win streak that has catapulted the defending champions to first place in the Metropolitan Division.“We’ve had some slow starts recently,” Rierden said. “It seems to help engage our group right away and raise the desperation and urgency. That’s not a real recipe for success but it seems to be working right now.”Valtteri Filppula scored and Thomas Greiss finished with 20 saves for the Islanders, who were playing for the fourth time in six days and snapped a two-game win streak.“I didn’t feel we had as much juice as we did against Carolina (on Saturday) and the other games,” Trotz said. “We just didn’t. … We didn’t have the legs under us that we usually have when we’re fresh.”Trotz was facing the Capitals for first time since leading them to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup title in June. Trotz also guided Washington to the Presidents’ Trophy for the league’s best record in 2015-16 and 2016-17 and then resigned in a contract dispute and subsequently signed with Islanders.Trotz, Islanders assistant coach Lane Lambert and goalie coach Mitch Korn, received their championship rings in the Capitals’ dressing room before the game and addressed their former players.Holtby stopped 15 shots in the third to improve to 15-4-3 in 22 career games against the Islanders.“It’s one of those games we had to grind out,” Holtby said. “Got some big plays, big shots at important times. … (The Islanders) had a lot of traffic in front. They were doing stuff that Barry preaches.”Leading 2-1, Washington had a two-man advantage for 1½ minutes. After several attempts were stopped during the 5-on-3 http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-kerryon-johnson-jersey , Wilson beat Greiss in front about 15 seconds after the Islanders’ first penalty expired for a power-play goal to push the Capitals’ lead to 3-1 with 5:39 left.Ovechkin added an empty-netter with 22 seconds remaining for his 18th of the season, tying him with Buffalo’s Jeff Skinner for second in the league.Tied 1-1 after one period, New York nearly regained the lead early in the second as Washington defenseman Matt Niskanen almost stuffed the rebound of Pulock’s shot off Holtby and across the goal line. After a review the no-goal call stood as officials confirmed the puck didn’t cross the line.Dowd then put the Capitals ahead 2-1 at 7:58 of the middle period as he took a drop pass from Dmitrij Jaskin in the right circle and beat Greiss on the glove side for his third. It came on Washington’s second shot on goal of the period.Filppula opened the scoring just 36 seconds into the game with a backhander past Holtby’s glove side for his seventh.Wilson tied it at 2:50 as his shot from the right faceoff dot beat Greiss through the legs.NOTES: Nicklas Backstrom had assists on both of Wilson’s goals, pushing him past Peter Bondra for second place on the Capitals’ career points list with 826. … John Carlson had an assist on Dowd’s goal, tying him with Kevin Hatcher for third on the Capitals’ career list for assists by a defenseman with 277. … The Capitals improved to 12-4-3 in their last 19 games vs. the Islanders. … Filppula, who has scored in two straight games, has eight points in the last seven games. … F Leo Komarov had an assist on Filppula’s goal, giving him six points the last seven games.UP NEXTCapitals: Host New Jersey on Friday night.Islanders: At Boston on Thursday night.
Two teams hurtling in opposite directions will meet up Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Kings host the Winnipeg Jets at Staples Center. The Jets (22-9-2) have won a season-high five straight games Nikita Kucherov Jersey , taking the past three in overtime, and they have won nine of 10 overall. Winnipeg knocked off the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 in overtime Sunday to move atop the Central Division. The Kings (11-20-3) have lost four in a row and six of seven. They own the fewest points in the NHL (25) and have yet to earn a point in three consecutive games this season.Article continues below ...Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin said frustration continues to build in the dressing room, but it’s important the players release their tension in positive ways.“We have to stick together as a team, that’s first and foremost, and everyone grab a shovel and start digging,” he told reporters after a 4-3 overtime road loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. “If we start pointing fingers, the team crumbles. I believe in this team. Obviously, we have a lot of guys hurt, but we can’t be making excuses, we have to come together as a team and get out of this together.”Los Angeles is the lowest-scoring team in the NHL at 2.18 goals a game, a good distance from the Arizona Coyotes, the second-lowest scoring team (2.50).Winnipeg, meanwhile, has combined for 27 goals in its five-game winning streak to move to fourth in the NHL at 3.64 goals a game.Patrik Laine had a four-game point streak end in the win over Tampa Bay on Sunday, but Mark Scheifele and Dustin Byfuglien each extended his point streaks to five games, and Mathieu Perreault scored a goal for the fourth consecutive game.“Right now, I’m just riding the wave,” Perreault told the Winnipeg Sun before Sunday’s win. “It’s been that way for my entire career, really. I’ve been a streaky player Ondrej Palat Jersey , not that my game gets any different, but sometimes the bounces go your way and, right now, that’s what has happened. Obviously, it gives you more confidence when pucks are going in. … You feel like the net’s a little bigger.”Scheifele’s point streak consists of five goals and nine assists, which moved him to fifth in the NHL with 46 points. He scored a goal against the Kings for the first time in his career in a 2-1 win in Winnipeg on Oct. 9.Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick is expected to start against the Jets. Quick has struggled in his career against Winnipeg, owning a 4-5-2 record, 3.02 goals-against average and .888 save percentage. The Jets are the only NHL team averaging more than three goals a game against Quick.Quick, who was injured and did not play in the loss to the Jets earlier this season, said he views each matchup with a clean slate.“It doesn’t matter if we won the last 10 or lost the last 10,” he said. “It’s a one-day-at-a-time job.” BOSTON — So often in the NHL, it comes down to goaltending.Especially when your defense is banged up and missing so many key parts. The Boston Bruins, hampered by a lengthy injury list on defense (as many as six at one time), are getting outstanding goaltending from Jaroslav Halak and Tuukka Rask as they head into Saturday night’s home game against the Detroit Red Wings.Article continues below ...It is already the third meeting of the season between the Original Six foes and the Wings come in trying to end an 11-game TD Garden losing streak.Asked after Thursday night’s 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Islanders about his team’s emphasis on defense, coach Bruce Cassidy said, “I think they’re working hard as a group, but at the end of the day, we have to give credit where it’s due and that’s the goaltending.“It’s been rock-solid for us, and I think they understand as much as anything that listen Ryan Callahan Jersey , we’re having trouble scoring goals. If we want to win games, we have to be dialed in and can’t really afford to have a night off until we get our offense going. I guess it’s spread around.”The Bruins (14-7-4) are 4-2-2 since Rask returned from his three-day personal-issue absence. They have allowed 19 goals in the eight games, but six of those came in the first of those games — and they have yielded 12 goals in seven games since.“It’s been tight games, I don’t know, the past five or six of them, but it builds character,” said Rask, who was outstanding Thursday and added, “and it’s good that we’ve been able to grind those games out and come out on top for the most part. You’ve got to learn to win every different kind of way, and it’s just kind of part of the process.”The Red Wings opened the season by going 0-5-2, then went 10-3-1, lost three straight and ended that streak with a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues Wednesday night. They blew a 3-0 lead in that game but won it on Tyler Bertuzzi’s second goal of the game, with 6:53 left.Bertuzzi was the hero on his bobblehead night.“He goes to the hard areas. He wins all the little stick battles,” said teammate Niklas Kronwall. “He doesn’t lose a lot of 50-50 battles on any given night. It’s nice to see him get rewarded. He always goes to the dirty areas. It’s great to see him get rewarded. There’s definitely more in there than we’ve seen so far. It’s great to see him get a couple tonight, a few big goals for us.”The Bruins gave Detroit its fifth straight loss to start the season when David Pastrnak had a hat trick and cleared the 100-goal career mark Oct. 13. But the Wings got some revenge with a 3-2 overtime win in Detroit on Nov. 21.If Cassidy continued his goalie rotation, it would be Halak (8-3-2, 2.06 goals against and .936 save percentage on the season), in goal Saturday. But Halak is just 7-6-2 with 3.51/.878 numbers lifetime against Detroit, so Rask gets his second straight start for the first time since Oct. 13 and 17.Rask http://www.officiallightningprostore.com/authentic-adidas-ryan-mcdonagh-jersey , who appears to have cleared himself of his early season woes, is 13-5-3 with 2.57/.905 in the regular season against the Wings. Rask was in goal for his team taking three of a possible four points from Detroit this season.Jimmy Howard, whose name has popped up in trade rumors, has been alternating with Jonathan Bernier and was the winner against St. Louis. Neither has a winning career record against Boston, but Howard’s 2.52 goals against is much better than Bernier’s 3.74. Howard is 6-6-3, Bernier 5-6-0.The Bruins expect to get Brandon Carlo (shoulder, eight games) back Saturday, shoring up a defense that changes by the game (Charlie McAvoy, out with a concussion, is also close). Wings d-man Trevor Daley suffered a lower body injury Wednesday night and is expected to miss both games this weekend — the Wings hosting the Colorado Avalanche Sunday.David Krejci, who lost a tooth in Thursday night’s game — former teammate Johnny Boychuk returned one to him on the bench — was missing from practice Friday. He was apparently at the dentist.“I love Johnny. He’s a good guy. But that’s just weird,” Cassidy said.Ryan Donato, recalled from Providence for that game, had the shootout winning for the Bruins.

Sundqvist entered with just two goals in 72 NHL games.Blues coach Mike Yeo wasn’t surprised by his performance.“We’ve seen that upside,” Yeo said. “I don’t know that we’re going to expect him to score two goals every single game he plays this year. He’s moving better. BUFFALO Adidas Jonathan Bernier Jersey , N.Y. (AP) Having known mostly success over the past decade with the Penguins, Jason Botterill received a sobering introduction to life at the bottom of the NHL during his first season as Buffalo Sabres general manager.”I’ve been here for one year and I was pretty (ticked) off and upset,” Botterill said during a season-ending news conference Wednesday, ”I guess I could be articulate, but I’ll just say it (stinks) that we won’t be watching live playoff hockey right now.”Being on the outside looking in is an unusual position for Botterill, who spent the previous two Junes celebrating Stanley Cup championships as the Penguins assistant GM. He was hired last spring after the Sabres cleaned house by firing GM Tim Murray and coach Dan Bylsma. If there’s anything Botterill can draw upon from his experience with the Penguins, is seeing the notable difference between what makes up a winning organization and a losing one in Buffalo .The Sabres finished last for the third time in five years, and extended their franchise-worst playoff drought to a seventh season.”Right now we have a losing culture here,” Botterill said.He put the onus on himself, coach Phil Housley and players to find ways of inspiring change Adidas Paul Thompson Jersey , be it with their training habits or communication and leadership abilities.”I don’t want to hear how disappointed they are. O’Reilly said a losing mentality had crept into the locker room and led him to losing his love for playing hockey at times.”I think he gave you an honest opinion. And in today’s sports world that’s a little bit unique,” Botterill said.”When you don’t get the results you want, it can be really draining on a player,” he added. ”And what he said is probably indicative of a lot of our players within our organization. And that’s what we have to work through right now.”Botterill began the news conference by saying Housley isn’t going anywhere after he struggled in his first year as coach. He credited Housley for developing some of Buffalo’s youngsters, and believes in the up-tempo style the coach began introducing this season. As for the roster, Botterill didn’t rule out making drastic changes even if it meant shaking up the team’s core group of leaders.”When you finish where we were, you have to look at everything,” he said.Buffalo finished last in the NHL with 199 goals scored and 119 goals scored in five-on-five situations. The Sabres also matched a franchise low for home wins in any season by going 11-25-4 at Buffalo – not including an overtime loss to the Rangers in the Winter Classic at New York City in which the Sabres were the ”home” team.If there was a bright side, Botterill looked forward to the draft in June Adidas Troy Brouwer Jersey , when Buffalo is guaranteed picking no worse than fourth overall, pending the results of the NHL’s draft lottery on April 28.Botterill was impressed by Jack Eichel’s development on the ice, where the third-year center set career bests with 25 goals and 64 points, and off the ice in continuing to mature as a leader.Botterill, however, said it was premature as to whether the Sabres were prepared to award the 21-year-old Eichel the captaincy, a role that was not filled this past season.”As excited as we are of Jack moving forward as a leader, it’s imperative that we have more players in that locker room step up,” Botterill said.”This game cannot have one player lead the entire team. The ruling by Shyam Das allowed Wilson to will recoup $378,049 of the $1.26 million he initially forfeited as part of the suspension. The 20-game ban handed down by the NHL’s department of player safety came after the 24-year-old Wilson was suspended three previous times in 13 months.“Some hits, he’s going to have to avoid. They’re too risky,” general manager Brian MacLellan said. “He’s going to have to avoid some hits and he’s going to have to let up on some hits also. You can’t have the same force because he hits hard and it looks bad, and sometimes he’s going to be evaluated on the force.”Commissioner Gary Bettman upheld Wilson’s suspension on appeal before it went to Das, the same arbitrator who earlier this season reduced Nashville forward Austin Watson’s domestic violence suspension from 27 games to 18.Since September 2017, Wilson had been suspended two preseason games for interference against the Blues’ Robert Thomas, four games for boarding the Blues’ Sammy Blais and three playoff games for an illegal check to the head of the Penguins’ Zach Aston-Reese.“I’ve had lots of time to think about it and dissect parts of my game,” Wilson told reporters in Minnesota after the team’s morning skate. “At full speed Nick Jensen Jersey , the rink’s not getting any bigger and guys are getting stronger and faster. The Capitals left for Winnipeg and a game on Wednesday night against the Jets, a back-to-back test for Wilson’s conditioning.“It was a good day and good to get back in there,” Wilson said afterward. “It’s tough watching the guys play, but once you get back and get in there, get in the room, get in the game day routine there’s no better feeling.”Das wrote in his 42-page opinion that he agreed with the league that Wilson violated Rule 48 with an illegal check to the head and was not persuaded by the Players’ Association’s arguments that included a suggested eight-game suspension. Das also wrote: “The length of the 20-game suspension imposed was not supported by substantial evidence” and decided on 14 by treating the three-game playoff suspension as six, doubling it given Wilson’s recent history and adding two games for Sundqvist’s concussion and shoulder injury.“The league did what they thought was appropriate,” Aston-Reese said recently when asked about Wilson’s latest suspension. “When the league comes down like that Thomas Vanek Jersey , you’ve always got to re-think your game. Ray Lewis arrived in Baltimore shortly after the transplanted Cleveland Browns Cheap Terrell Suggs Jersey , who were attempting to start anew in a city that had gone 12 years without an NFL team.Selected 26th overall in the 1996 draft after establishing himself as a star at the University of Miami, Lewis had no idea what he was getting into."We had no team. We had no logo. We had nothing," Lewis recalled. "There was nothing to really respect."Over the next 17 years, the Baltimore Ravens reached the postseason nine times, won two Super Bowls and built a hard-hitting and relentless defense in the image of Lewis, their unquestioned leader.A 13-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Lewis helped make the Ravens far better than respectable while establishing himself as one of the best linebackers to play the game. His unparalleled play and unmatched leadership made him an obvious first-ballot entrant into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Lewis received the news last February, and still gets chills thinking about it."That knock on the door was like the first time I got my first jersey," Lewis said. So, it's almost like the same feeling."He will be enshrined Saturday, joining offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden as the second Ravens star to have a bust in Canton, Ohio."It's pretty clear Ray was the heart and soul of the Ravens for 17 years. If anyone is deserving of this honor, it's Ray Lewis," Ogden said. I think he's the best that ever played," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "It's not just the on-field play; it's the whole package."Harbaugh acknowledged he carries the bias that comes with coaching Lewis for the final five years of his NFL career. Others, however, back the assertion."He's the best I've seen," said Mike Singletary, a Hall of Fame linebacker and former assistant coach in Baltimore. "If people thought I was good, I know that Ray was better."It's hard to determine Lewis' most notable quality. His ferocity on the field? His teaching and leadership skills? Or was it his relentless drive to win?Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson Cheap Mark Andrews Jersey , a teammate of Lewis' on the 2000 Super Bowl team, chooses all of the above."What needs to be said about a guy who was, by far, the best leader I witnessed in my 17 years of play? His singular focus to be the best player and teammate he could be what separates him from other Hall of Famers," Woodson said."His play was off the charts. He was a virtual tackling machine — and a playmaker. He caused fumbles, recovered fumbles, interceptions, tipped passes. He did it all for longer than anyone who played his spot in the middle."The 6-foot-1, 245-pound Lewis spent countless hours in the weight room and took an equal amount of pride in mastering the mental aspect of the game. He derived great pleasure from matching wits with great quarterbacks, most notably Peyton Manning and Tom Brady."Those two guys were chess players," Lewis said. "The game was one thing, but it was the preparation before the game that was a totally different thought process. And then, every time we walked off the field, we gave each other mad respect."Lewis wasn't perfect. He was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in Atlanta in 2000. Those charges were dropped, and he pleaded to obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor. But questions about his role in the crime were an underlying theme before Baltimore faced the New York Giants one year later in the Super Bowl, a game which the Ravens won 34-7 and Lewis was voted MVP."Ray Lewis is going to be Ray Lewis. He's not going to apologize for who he is," Harbaugh said. "But whenever he made a mistake, he was the first one to acknowledge it."In his first season in Baltimore, the Ravens finished 4-12. In his final season, which he dubbed "my last ride" entering the playoffs, Baltimore beat San Francisco 34-31 in the Super Bowl.It was a whirlwind career filled with ups and downs, and Lewis promises that kind of speech at his enshrinement."This moment for me is one you dream about your entire life Youth John Brown Jersey ," he said. "Savor that moment. You don't have to run a 40, you don't have to do bench presses, you ain't got to do none of that. All you have to do is deliver something I think a lot of people want to hear."And so, whether it becomes my greatest (speech) or not, I'll tell you this: it will have people and myself on a roller coaster that we will never forget."How much of Lamar Jackson would you like to see in the Hall of Fame game? The NFL Hall of Fame game is an annual affair that opens the league’s preseason festivities by commemorating the inductees in Canton, Ohio. The game itself is usually pretty milquetoast, a fact we’re reminded of about five minutes into watching future practice squad members (if they’re lucky) march across the field on each other in the hopes of impressing their coaching staff and front office.Occasionally though, the match-up is worth tuning into. For example, those that watched in the year 2000 got to see a rookie quarterback named Tom Brady get his first ever league action when the Patriots played the 49ers in the exhibition.Another rookie passer will be playing in his first NFL exhibition on Thursday when the Ravens and the Bears play. That man, of course, is former Louisville Cardinal, Lamar Jackson, who has generated as much, if not more national media buzz than any player on Baltimore’s roster in the past five years. As a result, many people will be tuning into this one for the sole purpose of watching Lamar play, which does beg a certain question. How much of him do you want to see against Chicago?Conventional wisdom would say as much as possible. After all, Lamar’s national attention is warranted as he’s arguably the most electric college football player of all time and he certainly has a chance to be very fun to watch. However, there is an argument to be made that you don’t want to overexpose him in his first ever NFL game. Would it be smarter to simply get him some good reps and call it a day as there will still be four preseason games to get him some time?Personally, I’d like to see as much of Lamar as possible; I don’t feel that he’s going to get a ton of run in the regular season so I’d like to get an idea of him as an NFL player. Regardless, I’m excited to see the action he gets regardless of how much it ultimately is.
