Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork. Wholesale Nike Air Max From China .com) - Atlantas All-Stars came through again. Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Jeff Teague had plenty of help as the Hawks pushed their franchise-record winning streak to 18 games. Millsap scored 21 points, Horford had 17 and Teague scored six of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks held off LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers for a 105-99 victory on Friday night. Kyle Korver added 16 points and Kent Bazemore had 12 points in 40 minutes off the bench as the Hawks won without injured forward DeMarre Carroll, who sat with a left Achilles strain. Thabo Sefolosha replaced him in the starting lineup but played just 2:21 before going out with a calf strain. Millsap, Horford and Teague were all named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team on Thursday, the first time since 1980 that three Hawks made the game. Atlantas Mike Budenholzer will coach the East in the Feb. 15 game at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Eastern Conference-leading Hawks havent lost since Dec. 26 in Milwaukee. And at 39-8, they surpassed last seasons win total (38-44). They could secure a perfect 17-0 month with a win Saturday against Philadelphia, which will end a seven-game homestand. Aldridge scored 37 points for Portland a day after he was named to the Western Conference All-Star team. An incredible individual performance, said Budenholzer. We tried to make it difficult on him but he still scored 37. Wesley Matthews added 16 points and Damian Lillard scored 13 with 11 assists for the Blazers, who have lost seven of their last nine games. While Aldridge was named to his fourth consecutive All-Star Game, Lillard was left off the team after making it last year and despite being seen as worthy, he didnt take the snub lightly, saying in an Instagram post that he felt disrespected by not being selected. Neither team led by more than six in the game. The Hawks took the lead for good on Horfords jumper midway through the fourth quarter. Later, Horfords rebound and Teagues long pass over the defense led to a dunk for Millsap at the other end to make it a six-point game with 1:30 remaining. The Blazers were never closer than four after that. Earlier, Aldridge scored 21 points in a tight first half and the Blazers shot over 55 percent from the field, but led just 51-50 at the break. Each team led by five in the third quarter as the game remained competitive. Portland built a 68-63 advantage at one point after a 15-5 run led by Aldridge and Lillard. Game Notes Hawks guard Shelvin Mack remains out with a left calf strain ... Atlanta has beaten the Blazers twice during the winning streak, also winning in Portland on Jan. 3 to snap a three-game losing streak in the series ... McConnell for the opportunity. The transfer point guard from Duquesne had 13 points, six assists and seven rebounds, making critical plays down the stretch, and No. 2 Arizona escaped with a 63-58 victory over UNLV on Saturday. Brandon Ashley also had 13 points, and Nick Johnson and Kaleb Tarczewski added 12 apiece for the Wildcats. However, Johnson shot just 4 for 15. With No. 1 ranked Michigan State falling to North Carolina, Arizona (9-0) seems a safe bet to move to No 1. "I think its something we feel like weve earned," Wildcats coach Sean Miller said. "We know that being ranked No. 1 doesnt mean that we won the championship or the seasons now over, but Im not going to play the negative card at all. ... To be ranked No. 1 is maybe the greatest compliment you can have." Bryce DeJean-Jones scored 16 points, Khem Birch had 12 and Roscoe Smith 10 for the Rebels (3-4) in their first road game of the season. Smith entered the game as the top rebounder in the country at 16 per game. He finished this one with six rebounds, just one on offence as Arizona outrebounded UNLV 41-29, 18-5 on the offensive boards. "There were times I felt that I was boxing out three guys," Smith said. "Arizona is ranked No. 2 and now will be No. 1, so they didnt just get there with no one." There were 18 lead changes and neither team led by more than six points. McConnell sank a 15-footer with 3:10 to play to put Arizona up for good, 58-57. After Dejean-Jones missed a 3-pointer, McConnells pretty bounce pass to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson for a dunk made it 60-57 with 2:20 to play. UNLV managed one field goal in the final six minutes, Birchs rebound basket that gave the Rebels their last lead at 57-56 with 3:30 to play. Birch made one of two free throws with 1:52 to go to cut Arizonas lead to 60-58, but McConnell found Ashley for a basket with 27 seconds to go to make it 62-58. McConnell made one of two free throws with 15.3 seconds to go to wrap up the scoring. "Hes in many ways the heart and soul of what we do," Miller said, "and I think you saw that in many ways in the second half. Nike Air Max Sale. " McConnell said he "just tried to slow the game down, let it come to me." "I kind of live for those moments," he said, "and I know we all do." There were 30 turnovers in the game, 16 by UNLV and 14 by Arizona. The Rebels shot 64 per cent in the first half (16 for 25) to Arizonas 52 per cent (17 of 33) and led 42-39 at the break. The scoring dropped drastically in the second half, with Arizona outscoring UNLV 24-16. The Rebels shot 28 per cent (7 for 25) in the second half while Arizona was at 32 per cent (11 of 34). Miller said that was the emphasis at halftime, to get back to his teams identity -- defence and rebounding. He praised the UNLV effort, saying he saw a bunch of talented players playing together as a team. Thats the way Rebels coach Dave Rice saw it, too. "We were a confident group coming in here and we felt we had a great week of practice," Rice said. "We spent most of this season getting to know one another and we have made major strides." There were 19 turnovers in the first 20 minutes, 10 by UNLV and nine by the Wildcats. Every one of the seven Arizona players who played in the first half had at least one turnover. The Wildcats led 37-31 on McConnells reverse layup on a pass from Hollis-Jefferson with 3:35 to play. Arizona was up 39-35 on Hollis-Jeffersons spin move inside with just under two minutes to go, but Roscoe Smith sank a 17-footer, Kevin Olekaibe hit a 3 and Kendall Smith scored on a reverse layup to give UNLV its three-point halftime cushion. Arizona scored the first six points of the second half to go up 45-42, but the Rebels scored the next six to lead 48-45 on Dejean-Jones 16-footer with 15:36 to play. A 5-0 spurt regained the lead for Arizona, Aaron Gordons emphatic dunk on a pass from Ashley made it 52-49 with 12:05 to go. Again, the Rebels responded, scoring the next six and the back-and-forth battle persisted. The capacity crowd at McKale Center was decked out in white for the teams annual "white out" promotion. Arizona had lost its previous two white outs, and this one was shaky. ' ' '
Jason Pottinger chose his words carefully, because this was the first time he could speak for himself, on the record. Detroit Tigers Gear . And the Ottawa Redblacks linebacker wanted to be sure his words delivered their full effect. "Its an insult," he said over the phone Wednesday after the CFL Players Association lifted its media ban, giving its members the ability to speak openly about stalling collective bargaining talks. For Pottinger — 30 years old and an eight-year CFL veteran taken by Ottawa in Decembers expansion draft— "It," is an all-composing term, referring to the CFLs reluctance to explore any revenue-sharing model, and the publication of the leagues newest offer Wednesday, which includes a "ratification bonus" ($1,000 for rookies and $3,000 for veterans) if the players agree to the leagues terms by June 2. "Its a slap in the face." "It" ultimately alludes to a negotiation process that has made no progress for months. Like most players, Pottinger has not directly been part of the talks. There is now a week left before the current CBA expires on May 29. Last week the CFLPA began mailing out strike ballots to its members. Pottinger has received his, and he has voted Yes. "Im hopeful," he said. "But the league has to start taking us seriously." For the most part, players have kept quiet over the last few months. The CFL made certain no one representing the league or any team spoke, threatening hefty fines for any league or team official willing to share any thoughts on the negotiations. And then today - after TSN initially reported the leagues latest offer to the players - CFL commissioner Mark Cohon released the offer on the leagues website along with an open letter to players and fans. The leagues offer includes an initial nine per cent increase on the salary cap — from the existing $4.4 million to $4.8 million — in the first year of a new CBA, and a yearly $50,000 increase over the life of a new five-year deal (putting the cap at $5,050,000). The league minimum salary would also be raised from $45,000 to $50,000. And the CFL would maintain a $450,000 annual payment to the CFLPA for "Player marketing and other rights." The proposal also includes larger active rosters, plans for limited amounts of contact practices, and the continuation of player pension, medical, and life insurance benefits. "The CFL offer strikes an appropriate balance of, on the one hand, providing significant compensation increases and health and safety improvements to the Players while, on the other hand, creating an environment in which the League and its teams can continue to build for a strong and stable future," Cohon wrote in his letter to the players. "I was surprised [the league went public]," Pottinger said. "This must have been their plan. We had an understanding that neither side would approach the media for 24 hours. [The players] gave that notice [Tuesday afternoon] and the league broke that understanding. They came in [to the proposed Toronto meeting place Wednesday] handed their proposal and walked out. Now is that bargaining?" Four hours later, CFLPA executives held a press conference and released their counterproposal. The crucial component of the players offer is $6.24 million salary cap partly determined by a revenue-sharing model, which would allocate 55 per cent of gross revenue from TV, internet and radio rights, 45 per cent of gross sponsorship revenue, and 40 per cent of gross ticket revenue to the players. "We advised the CFLPA in no uncertain terms that their proposal was not realistic, and would not form the basis for any financial settlement," Cohon said in his letter. "In fact, it would threaten the very existence of the CFL." "The league has only recently been upfront with us about their finances," Pottinger said. "This isnt just about the players now. This is about the players who are coming into the league, and who will come into the league. In five years, I will likely be out of the league. I want players coming to the CFL then to say Thanks for putting up a fight. CFLPA president Scott Flory also issued a letter to CFL fans Wednesday afternoon. "We are in not interested in destroying the game that has given us all so much. We put our bodies, hearts and souls on the line and seek nothing more than to be fairly paid for what we do," Flory wrote. Sources - players both close to the negotiations and outside of the meetings - have told TSN over the past few months that some kind of revenue-sharing scheme must be an integral part of any new CBA. But are the percentages in the CFLPAs recent proposal fixed, immutable numbers? Or a starting point that hasnt yet been properly considered? Pottinger, a businessman himself working toward his Master of Business Administration, paused when considering the questions. The terms "whats fair" and "fair share" were constantly repeated principles when players were advised to say little or nothing. The message wont change now. "In the end - and I know youve heard this enough times already - but we want whats fair," he said. "I want you to write this: Back in 2010 [when the soon-to-be-expired CBA was being negotiated] revenue sharing for the players was around 56 per cent. The league approached us and said they couldnt operate with a revenue sharing model. They told us the league wouldnt be healthy. They told us to be partners. We understood. We thought we were partners." "Now it just feels like take, take, take." Players used social media to air frustration and show their filled-in strike ballots. Ones with NO crossed have yet to be seen. "In writing this letter, we the Executive, are still here where our negotiations were scheduled to be, working towards furthering talks. We need two sides," Flory wrote in his open letter. What is the timetable now? Does Pottinger expect to miss the first week of training camp? The first preseason game? The first week of the regular season? Is he ready to strike? "Im still hopeful for a new deal," Pottinger said. John Hiller Jersey . WASHINGTON -- Milwaukee starter Kyle Lohse didnt need many words to sum up his effort in Friday nights 4-2 win at Washington. Fake Vans 2020 . "It was survival," he said. Lohse limited the Nationals to one run over seven innings despite giving up 10 hits and allowing at least one base runner in every inning. "I think it was five out of seven innings that got led off with a hit. I was thinking about starting off innings out of the stretch, but I didnt want to let everybody know I was aware of it," Lohse joked. Scooter Gennett and Khris Davis homered to help the Brewers take the series opener between division leaders. Aramis Ramirez added a two-run single for the NL Central leading Brewers. Lohse (10-4) picked up his first win since June 22 as Washington went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position. "Thats being able to make pitches and battle when youre not completely on your game," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. Lohse threw 103 pitches. He struck out three without a walk Milwaukee shortstop Jean Segura was back in the lineup, a week after the death of his 9-month-old son, and went 1 for 4. He received a warm ovation from the Nationals Park crowd prior to his first at-bat. "It was amazing, you know, it was amazing," Segura said of the acknowledgement. "When a player has that experience, (is in) that position, its tough. They know how difficult this game is and how hard we go out there and compete" Bryce Harper, struggling since returning from a left thumb injury had a homer and two singles for Washington, which began play percentage points ahead of Atlanta in the NL East. "I think hes stood up just a touch more to get on top of the baseball. Lowered his hands a little bit, probably a little more direct to the ball. He worked on that over the break," manager Matt Williams said. "He looked good up there tonight." Francisco Rodriguez gave up Harpers ninth-inning homer, but picked up his 28th save. Stephen Strasburg (7-7) allowed four runs on seven hits. He struck out nine in seven innings. Washington had won 10 of 14 coming in while the Brewers had dropped 11 of 13, but it was Milwaukee that started fast. The Brewers got solo homers from Gennett in the first inning and Davis in the second. In the fourth, Strasburg issued a two-out walk to Gennett and Ryan Braun doubled him to third. Ramirez then blooped a single, scoring both runners to make it 4-0. "I got in off Ramirezs hands hard and he just dumped it out there in right," Strasburg said. "That was the one that was really frustrating." Strasburg, who allowed seven runs in 4 2-3 innings June 25 in Milwaukee, had given up just five earned runs in 20 1-3 innings in his three starts since. The Nationals pulled to within 4-1 on Ian Desmonds RBI double. An obstruction call briefly delayed the first inning. After Denard Span led off with a single, Anthony Rendon followed with a grounder to shortstop. Span beat the throw to second and was initially called safe, and second baseman Gennetts relay throw got Rendon at first. However, second base umpire Angel Campos called Span out for obstruction as Span came up into Gennett after his slide. Williams argued and the umpires huddled. Span remained out but Rendon was ruled safe at first because Spans obstruction created a dead-ball situation. "I think they got it wrong, but I cant tell you the ruling on it because Ive never seen it before," Roenicke said. "(Crew Chief Bill Miller) said once the umpire calls him safe and then calls the interference it becomes a dead ball." MacIntyre stopped 49 shots and the Marlies defeated the Texas Stars 5-1 in Game 1 of the American Hockey Leagues Western Conference final. "I felt in control, so that was nice," MacIntyre said.WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Lizette Salas didnt have to wait long to be tested in her latest attempt at a breakthrough victory on the LPGA Tour. The challenge came on the first hole Sunday in the Kingsmill Championship, after she was overly cautious with her first putt, leaving it nearly 10 feet short of the cup with a sliding, downhill test to save par. She made it, the start of a day when she did little wrong on her way to a four-shot victory. "Yeah, that was a big putt just to start off the day," Salas said. "Downhill slider to the right. I mean, I even threw in a fist pump because I knew how important that was for me mentally and on a confidence standpoint." The 24-year-old Salas made it look easy the rest of the way, even while shooting just an even-par 71 on the River Course. Salas started the day with a three-shot lead, doubled it with birdies on the par-5 third and par-3 fifth. A bogey on the par-4 eighth was her only hiccup -- and only her third bogey in four rounds -- until she three-putted the par-3 17th. She finished at 13-under 271 and earned $195,000. Yani Tseng, Kraft Nabisco winner Lexi Thompson and Sarah Jane Smith tied for second. Salas was never really challenged in the final round on the River Course, and when her final putt fell on the 18th hole, she cupped her head in her hands and covered her face in celebration. Her winning moment was quickly interrupted, however, when four fellow players arrived and doused her with champagne, water and wine. The victory came after Salas flirted with victory several times in her three years on tour. It also came after she missed the cut two weeks ago and realized she needed to change her mental approach to give herself a fighting chance. "I felt like I wanted to be perfect all the time," she said. "I felt like I needed to play like a top tier golfer every week. Thats not it. Its about feeling confident. Golf is a sport where you cant control everything. ... I just took a step back and looked at golf differently. I just tried to have fun this week. That was the most important thing." This year, she tied for third in the season-opening event in the Bahamas and shared the lead after three rounds in the Kia Classic in her home staate of California, but Anna Nordqvist closed with a 5-under 67 -- to Salas 70 -- to win by one. Fake Vans Cheap. Last year, playing alongside winner Inbee Park in the final group of the Kraft Nabisco, Salas shot 79 to tie for 25th. Two weeks later, Salas lost a playoff to Suzann Pettersen in the LPGA LOTTE in Hawaii. Salas chunked her approach into the water on the first extra hole after closing with a tournament-record 62. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Salas was introduced to the game when her father, the head mechanic at Azusa Greens west of Los Angeles, did some handyman jobs for the club pro and, instead of pay, asked him to teach his daughter to play. She went on to star at Southern California, where she was a four-time All-America selection and helped the Trojans win the 2008 NCAA title. The victory came on a rare weekend when her parents didnt come to the tournament, but watched from their home in California, and it brought tears to the eyes of Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, who has been a mentor of sorts for Salas. "Im crying. Im so proud of her," Lopez said by telephone after watching the celebration on the green. "She looked great out there, just very confident and swinging great. ... Like she said on TV, she was ready. It was time." Salas expects "some tears of happiness" when she sees her parents Monday. Tseng, seeking her first victory since 2012, got within three with three birdies in a four-hole stretch on the back nine, but she finished with two pars and a double bogey for a 69, expanding Salas lead to five shots. Thompson had a 69, and Smith shot 66 -- the best round of the day. Tseng nearly made it very interesting at the par-5 15th, but her eagle putt stopped just short of the cup. "One more roll it will be in," she said. "I know if I make that I have a good chance." The tournament also featured a golf rarity, a double eagle. It was scored by Frenchwoman Joanna Klatten on No. 15. Klatten said her drive left her a perfect distance away for her 3-wood, and she had a feeling something great was coming. "Its intuition. I had a good feeling about that shot," she said. "Of course there is a little bit of luck in that." ' ' '
Back in the day, the same four of us (Jon, Ian, Darren, and I) would meet up at Montreals legendary Copacabana to watch whatever game was on. Fake Jerseys For Sale . We were regulars at the bar, a kind dive where you could just drop in and know someone familiar would be around to have a beer with. The kind of place where the adult beverage of choice was quickly placed in front of you upon your arrival. We were there to watch games, but it was more than that. We were a bunch of writers, at different points in our careers and lives, getting away from our lives. It was group therapy. With beer. There were few better nights in those years than a good Habs game at Copa. Friends would come in and out, for a period or two, for a drink or four. Partners would join us, or not. Between periods wed chide each other the way friends do, bemoan each others losses, celebrate each others victories. We played a game within the game called JägerMuller. If Habs assistant coach Kirk Muller appeared on screen (not including wide angle or crowd shots) the last person to yell JägerMuller had to buy a round of Jägermeister for the group. This often led to empty wallets and foggy third periods, but JägerMuller was ours and it made a contextual experience all that more unique, all that more memorable. As time passed, the opportunity to watch sports as a group got more and more challenging. Copa closed. People had kids, moved away, traveled for work, or had partners who wouldnt permit them to indulge in Tuesday night binge drinking. But we live in the high speed digital age, an age ruled by social media and easy communication. The four of us opened up a Facebook thread that was for any sort of conversation: dating woes, the challenges of child rearing, the merits of wasabi peas, politics, the importance of Tums to men in their 30s, the overwhelming fear of ones own mortality, the petulance of poets, why soccer sucks. We tried Skype and Google Hangouts, but as aging writers we found we preferred the anonymity of messaging, the quiet comfort of watching the game both alone and in the company of those we love. But for the most part the thread is for watching hockey games together from afar, often still with our favourite adult beverage in hand, though the days of JägerMuller are over. That games virtues, like nachos, dont transfer well through the digital ether. The Facebook threads message count is somewhere in the mid-40 thousand range as of this writing, and growing each day. An exponential explosion is expected during the playoffs, though Jon (a Jets fan) and Ian (a Leafs apologist) will be forced to cheer for their second favourite teams. The virtual bar that the digital age has provided us pales in comparison to their company, but it has allowed us to stay close, to continue to care about each other the way we did when were separated by city blocks and not oceans and responsibilities. But the bar that we left just a few years ago is not the same bar where sports are enjoyed today. Its a lesser venue. Consider the bar argument. No longer can hours be spent fighting over what year Gretzky scored 50 goals in 39 games, what round Luc Robitaille was drafted in, the rate at which Randy Carlyles hairline has been receding. Answers are too quickly found on our phones, and the shortened distance of knowledge does not promote an expanse of conversation. Plus, the bars too busy tweeting cleverness in 140 characters, or arguing with some 12-year-old in Abbostford over whos the better d-man, Subban or Weber. Or instagramming retro-filtered photos of our cocktails. Or adding the waitress as a friend on Facebook. Theres a grand irony in the fact that the same advents that have made watching sports a more communal experience with those who cant be in our presence has had the opposite effect on those in our presence. On the off nights where my friends cant meet up in the digital bar, and I dont have the wherewithal or funds to hit the real bar I, like most, watch games with Twitter open. But instead of finding a substitute for those who cant be with me, Im overwhelmed by the faux-expertise and bravado that ends up in my feed. Just because you have a blog and 45 Twitter followers doesnt exactly make you Bob McKenzie. I appreciate fandom and respect the free speech virtues of the medium, but holy hell @HabsFan4lyfe69 if you cant spell Michel Therrien, you really shouldnt be offered the privilege of publicly questioning the size of his manhood. The amount of valuable discourse is too often overshadowed by the sycophantic, or vile, or uninformed. Just look at what happens when Joel Ward scores in overtime or Jason Collins steps on the court the first time. The degenerate xenophobes bear their virtual white sheets in the comfortable anonymity or ignorant ignominy of cyberspace. There are no bouncers online, no bartenders with the ability to cut off the flow of alcohol. But sports are the last collective viewing experience, with the possible exception of the Oscars. With the advent of PVRs and streaming video you can watch Scandal whenever you please, but the sport still requires a live audience. No one wants to watch the game later. Even if youre stuck at work, on a plane, or at your boyfriends sisters third intervention, you can tune in, not miss a shot, a goal, a fight, or a one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that only sport can provide. In 2010 when the Habs made their magical run to the Conference Finals, one of us couldnt make it to Copa to watch the game. Jon was stuck in a hotel room in Vancouver, watching it on his own. There was no thread then. We didnt all own smartphones. No one said "blogoshpere". The Jets were still the Thrashers. Maybe two of us were on Twitter. So as the bar counted down the minutes of Game 7 of an improbable 5-2 Habs win and an improbable series upset over the heavily-favoured Penguins, I called Jon and placed my flip phone open in the middle of our table. He listened as we sung "Olé, Olé, Olé", as we cheered and piled into the streets, as we mocked Sidney Crosby. Strangers would come pick up the phone and speak to him in English and French about the game, about the city, and about the Habs and dreams of 1993. That night was a microcosm of how we watch the games now, the birth of how fandom and friendship defies distance in a digital age. It was a living analogy of how in four short years the experience of watching sports would change. Not all for the better, of course. But Ill put up with a few egotistical bloggers, the occasional Twitter tantrum, and the death of the bar argument if it means I can watch sports the way I want, from wherever I am, with the people I love. Calling him an England striker would have been unthinkable before the last World Cup four years ago when he had just completed another season in the third tier of English football. But the 32-year-old Lambert is now in Miami as part of the 23-man squad heading to Brazil, and is getting ready to represent his country on the sports biggest stage. Enriching the fairytale aspect, Lambert on Monday completed his move from Southampton back to Premier League giant Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy but that discarded him as a player when he was 15. Out of football, Lambert found work in a beetroot factory, earning just 20 pounds a day. "It was absolutely devastating," Lambert recalled Monday. "I can remember at the time thinking I wasnt going to be a footballer -- Id been dropped from Liverpool and it was the end of the world for me. I was so devastated. "At the time, I thought nothing was ever going to feel worse than that, but I can tell people now life goes on and you shouldnt let it hit you too much ... but I never thought Id manage to get back." Following the pain of being rejected, Lambert forced his way through the lower leagues of English football, away from the glamor and riches of the Premier League, playing at Macclesfield, Stockport, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers before ending up at Southampton in 2009. On the south coast, Lambert established himself as a prolific scorer, helping power Southampton from the third tier to the Premier League and an eighth-place finish last month. By that point England coach Roy Hodgson had taken note, calling Lambert up for international duty for the first time last August. It was a dream debut at the age of 31, scorinng the winning goal in a friendly against archrival Scotland with his first touch at Wembley Stadium. Jerseys For Sale. "Its an unfortunate truth if you want to get recognized at the top level you have to be playing at the top level," Hodgson said recently. Lambert is likely to see limited playing time at the World Cup, where Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be the first-choice strikers. But he is likely to earn a fifth cap against Ecuador on Wednesday at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, but England could be relying on him for penalties in Brazil, having scored all 34 spot kicks for Southampton and only missing two in his career. "Im living a dream," Lambert said. "There is a buzz about the group at the moment and there is a lot of confidence." Whatever happens at the World Cup, Lambert is likely to make his debut soon in club footballs biggest competition, the Champions League, after completing his 4-million pound ($6.7 million) move to Liverpool. "Its going to be hard to keep my emotions in check the first time I pull on the Liverpool shirt," Lambert said on Liverpools website. "Its going to be very emotional, not just for me but also for my family. These kind of moments are driving me on. When I get these moments, I seem to produce my best performances and Im able to use it to my advantage." Lambert will provide competition up front for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, with Liverpool needing more strikers in its squad after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in five years. "There isnt much sentiment in football and I dont think this move is anything to do with that," Lambert said. "Ive loved this club all my life. I left here 17 years ago -- and I havent stopped loving it since." ' ' '
The Phoenix Coyotes stumbled down the stretch, going on a seven-game winless slide, to miss the playoffs by two points, their second straight season on the outside looking in. Andy Ashby Jersey . Off-Season Game Plan looks at the Coyotes, and what they might be able to do to get over the hump. The Coyotes have been able to ice a consistently competitive squad on a budget -- even missing the playoffs the past two seasons, their cumulative points percentage was .538; just good enough to miss, apparently. If the Coyotes are going to make progress, they need to upgrade their scoring. They were a middle-of-the-road possession team, with good goaltending, but finishing 20th in goals scored was enough of a difference to prevent them from getting into the postseason. Additionally, they face the prospect of losing their highest-scoring forward, Radim Vrbata, as a free agent, so this is a situation that ought to be addressed. How might they do it? Well, internally, the Coyotes might turn to top prospect Max Domi, a skilled centre or a winger like Lucas Lessio might be able to make the jump, but those moves would hardly offset the loss of a proven NHL scorer. There will be scorers on the free agent market -- Thomas Vanek, Jarome Iginla, Mike Cammalleri, Matt Moulson among them -- though they wont likely come cheaply, and while the Coyotes new ownership may offer more financial flexibility than when the franchise was under league rule, its one thing to have flexibility and another to outbid the big spenders for a top scoring winger. Given the way this franchise has run through adversity, though, figure that GM Don Maloney will be able to find some value in the marketplace and ice a competitive team again next year. As weve seen over the past couple seasons, though, competitive may not be enough The TSN.ca Rating is an efficiency rating based on per-game statistics including goals and assists -- weighted for strength (ie. power play, even, shorthanded) -- Corsi, adjusted for zone starts, quality of competition and quality of teammates, hits, blocked shots, penalty differential and faceoffs. Last seasons 23 goals in 69 games represented his best goals-per-game rate since 2008-2009, and his 13.8% shooting percentage was the best of Doans entire career. That certainly makes regression likely, but its not like Doan has been reaping the rewards of favourable percentages; it just may not be reasonable to expect the same goal production. Martin Hanzal registered the first 40-point season of his career and continues to take on tough assignments, but hes also running into injury problems lately, missing 65 games over the past four seasons. His possession stats were down last season, but Hanzals size (6-foot-6, 236 pounds) makes him a tough physical presence for opposing centres to handle, at least its that way when he manages to stay in the lineup. Antoine Vermette played 19:13 per game and scored 24 goals last season, both his most since 2009-2010, and hes as durable as they come, having played every game for five straight seasons. Vermettes possession stats have declined, but at least some of that can be attributed to usage -- he faced the toughest matchups with more defensive zone starts. Speedy winger Mikkel Boedker has been making steady progress offensively. In the past two seasons, hes scored 77 points in 130 games, which puts him 85th in the league over that time. If hes still got a few more years to hit his peak, maybe Boedker could be good for 60-plus points with the right line combination. Last season, it was mostly taking the tough matchups with Vermette and a rotating cast of characters on the other side. The Coyotes had expectations that 34-year-old Mike Ribeiro would be able to add life to their offence but, by seasons end, Ribeiro scored 47 points (two fewer than he scored in 48 games with Washington in 2012-2013) and his 17:00 per game of ice time was his lowest since 2006-2007. More troubling about the lack of production is that the Coyotes tilted the ice in Ribeiros favour with zone starts, yet 0.59 points per game was his lowest since 2002-2003, when he was still trying to break into the Montreal lineup. Industrious winger Lauri Korpikoski has been getting hard minutes, though theres a fair case to be made that its more than he can handle. That doesnt mean that Korpikoski cant be a useful contributor, just maybe ease up on the quality of competition that he faces on a regular basis. At one time, Martin Erat was a consistent offensive performer, and while he remains a capable puck possesion player, hes fallen on ridiculously hard times as a goal-scorer. Among NHL forwards to play at least 1800 minutes over the past two seasons, Erat is the only one with fewer than a dozen goals, and he has eight. Hes coming into a contract year, so Erat ought to be motivated, but this offensive dry spell isnt something that can be dismissed as a motivation issue. His shots-on-goal totals, which were never sky-high, are way down and if that doesnt change, dont expect Erats point totals to rebound much. Hard-hitting winger Rob Klinkhammer just completed his first full NHL season, as a 27-year-old, and certainly held his own. There may not be a ton of offensive upside, but theres lots of room for a 6-foot-3 winger who can skate and hit. 28-year-old Kyle Chipchura has never scored more than six goals or 20 points in an NHL season, but hes battled his way to a regular spot on the fourth line, missing four games total over the past two seasons. This past season, he delivered a career-best 20 points while starting the majority of his shifts in the defensive zone. There will be some need to make changes up front, as the Coyotes have four unrestricted free agents. Over the past five seasons, he ranks third in scoring among defencemen, behind only Duncan Keith and Erik Karlsson and was on for 54.5% of the 5-on-5 goals when he was on the ice over that span. So, USA Hockey might not have been compelled to name Yandle to the Olympic team, but the Coyotes can be more than satisfied with a productive player who hasnt missed a game in the past five seasons. While Yandle puts up the numbers, 22-year-old Oliver Ekman-Larsson is effectively the Coyotes No. 1 defenceman, in terms of usage, because he plays 25 minutes a night, and is always facing the oppositions best lines. Ekman-Larssons production is starting to take off, too, as he had career-highs in goals (15), assists (29) and points (44) last season. Michael Stone is steadily improving, becoming a regular on the Phoenix blueline, and he finished the year playing top-four minutes. It takes some projection, and maybe a little faith, to believe the 23-year-old is ready for it full-time, but Stone does move the puck well and can contribute on the power play. Playing alongside Ekman-Larsson, Zbynek Michalek gets the toughest matchups and holds his own in that regard though, with 12 points in 93 games since returning to Phoenix, he plays more of a meat-and-potatoes game. Michalek has led the Coyotes with 252 blocked shots over the past two seasons. Injuries have hampered the development of David Schlemko, though the 27-year-old has been an effective depth defenceman at a reasonable price. There will be openings on the Coyotes blueline, though top prospects Brandon Gormley and Connor Murphy could both be in consideration for spots and Chris Summers, signed to an inexpensive one-way deal, might fill a depth role. The 12th overall pick in last summers draft is smallish, but a creative playmaker, something in short supply in Phoenix, and could have a shot at making the team next year. The 13th pick in 2010, Brandon Gormley is a smart defenceman who makes a good outlet pass and has 65 points in 122 AHL games over the past two seasons. That earned him a five-game audition with the Coyotes, though that audition might have suggested that he needs more work before hes ready. Picked 20th in 2011, Connor Murphy split last season between the AHL and NHL, and the 21-year-old doesnt have much of an offensive game, Murphy is a steady, stay-at-home type who was most frequently paired with Yandle or Ekman-Larsson when he was the Coyotes. Taken with the 27th pick in 2012, Henrik Samuelsson has steadily improved throughout his junior career and is a high-scoring forward with a big body. He may have to shift to wing in the NHL, but theres nothing wrong with having that size and skill on the wing. Sturdy winger Lucas Lessio got into three games with the Coyotes early in the year, and while he may not have been ready for primetime, he had a very strong first pro season, scoring 29 goals in 69 AHL games. The 2011 second-round pick should be in competition for a job at some point next season. Acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in March, 2013, Tobias Rieder was productive in his first pro campaign. Hell need to get stronger to move up the ladder but, if he does, Rieder has skill that makes him worth watching. A first-round pick in 2011, Mark Visentin has produced uneven results in his first couple pro seasons. Hes only 21-years-old, so theres time to be patient and develop Visentin, but early returns have not lived up to that draft slot. Laurent Dauphin, a second-round pick last summer, is a smart, competitive centre who will need some time to round out his game and get stronger, but is one to watch. Picked up in a trade with Anaheim, Brandon McMillan was a solid contributor in 22 games with the Coyotes last season, chipping in six points with favourable possession stats. Hell be in prime consideration for a depth spot next season. A fourth-round pick in 2009, Jordan Szwarz got into 26 games with the Coyotes last season, scoring three goals. Hes a high-effort guy with limited offensive upside. Chris Summers has played 47 NHL games over the past four seasons, compared to 211 in the AHL, so while the 2006 first-rounder might appear to be destined for time on the farm, he does have a one-way contract for next season, which might keep him in a depth role with the Coyotes. With one bout left on his contract, the teacher-turned-fighter is quite enthusiastic about the possibility of completing the trilogy with former middleweight champion Anderson Silva and even beating him for the first time. "Would I fight Anderson a third time? Absolutely," Franklin said on Submission Radio on Monday. "Is it because I feel like I have some unfinished business? Not at all. Its just, in my mind as a champion and to have the mentality of a champion I 100 per cent, wholeheartedly believe that I can beat Anderson in a fight." Franklin has lost to Silva in each of their two previous matchups, both via TKO by way of knees. In the first contest at UFC 64, Franklin lost the Middleweight Championship in what was the beginning of Silvas record reign with the title. But Franklin has been long since removed from his tussles with Silva. Since his second loss to the Brazilian at UFC 77 in October 2007, Franklin went on to face a slew of top talent. He beat Wanderlei Silva twice and Chuck Liddel once, but fell to veterans Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin and Cung Le along the way. Edward Olivares Jersey. He has not fought since his knockout defeat by Le in November 2012. But Franklin says none of that matters. To him, the matchup seems a favourable one. "It wouldnt be for any reason like redemption or vengeance or retribution or any other kinda cool word that weve seen on a UFC poster before, but yeah I would fight him and I believe I could beat him." The water on the Silva subject is muddy right now though. After breaking his leg in his most recent bout with now Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman, the 39-year-old has ruled himself out for the entire year and isnt expected back until 2015. As for Franklin, who would be 40 by the time the bout could happen, he doesnt think Silva is down for the count just yet. "Id look for him (Silva) to return and Id look for him to hunt for the title again at some point in time," says Franklin. "Well just see if he can get there." ' ' '

Mason Raymond added Torontos only other goal of the game just 22 seconds later. Canadiens goaltender Carey Price made 12 of his 34 saves in a spotless third period to help the Habs hold on for the win over their bitter rivals. "I thought it was a hard-fought game," said van Riemsdyk. "There were times we didnt play as well as we could have. Those were the times that cost us the game." Jonathan Bernier gave up four goals on 39 shots for the Maple Leafs. Bernier could get the start again on Tuesday and is 1-2-0 with a 3.57 GAA in four career appearances against San Jose. Fellow Toronto goaltender James Reimer is 1-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA in two lifetime outings versus the Sharks. The Maple Leafs hope to get back on track tonight at the start of a brief two-game homestand. Toronto, which also will welcome Dallas on Thursday, is 9-4-0 as the host this season compared to a 5-6-3 mark on the road. Toronto went 0-2-1 on a recent three-game road trip and was winless on the road in November (0-4-3). Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul will sit out a fourth straight game on Tuesday due to a groin injury. Lupul has eight goals and seven assists in 22 tilts this season. Cody Franson will be a game-time decision for the Leafs on defence. Franson did not play in the Leafs Saturday night loss. The Sharks will try to match their longest winning streak of the season tonight. The Sharks have won their last five outings, leaving them one victory shy of their season-opening six-game tear from Oct. 3-15. All told, the Sharks have posted victories in eight of their past nine outings and their recent hot play has vaulted San Jose into first place in the Pacific Division standings. Anaheim, which hosts Los Angeles on Tuesday, is one point in back of San Jose for the Pacific lead. San Jose, however, has a solid 8-2-3 record as the guest this season and has won its last three trips to Toronto. The Sharks have taken five of six overall from the Leafs. The Sharks also played on Saturday when they recorded a home shootout win over the Ducks, who entered the contest tied with San Jose for first in the Pacific. Joe Pavelski scored in the second round of the shootout to lift the Sharks past Anaheim, 4-3, to take sole possession of the divisions top spot. Patrick Marleau had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who went 5-0-0 on a recent five-game homestand. Martin Havlat and Logan Couture also lit the lamp Saturday, while Antti Niemi stopped 28-of-31 shots in the victory. "Its the division, its the conference," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said after the win. "Its that close. Its got to be exciting for hockey fans all over because there really isnt anybody thats pulling away or a clear-cut favorite, and some really important hard-fought games at this time of year." The Sharks received a scare in the first period when captain Joe Thornton was hit near the left eye with a deflected puck. The veteran centerman left the game briefly before returning later in the period. Thornton, who contributed an assist towards Saturdays win, has registered a point in five straight games and is expected to play on Tuesday. He is leading San Jose this season with 29 points on four goals and 25 assists. Two struggling teams meet up in Calgary tonight when the Flames host the Carolina Hurricanes at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Andrew Chafin Jersey . Calgary enters Thursday having lost two of three and the Flames were stung by the former face of their franchise in Tuesdays 2-1 loss against Jarome Iginla and the Boston Bruins. Iginlas return to Calgary was a triumphant one, as the Bruins overcame a 1-0 deficit with a pair of late goals to down the Flames. Reilly Smith potted the game-winner for Boston with 4:33 left to play, a mere 98 seconds after David Krejci recorded the equalizer with the Bruins on the power play. Iginla, the Flames all-time leader in goals (525), points (1,095) and games played (1,219), faced the club he spent 16 highly productive seasons with for the first time since Calgary traded its longtime captain to Pittsburgh during last Aprils trade deadline. The revered 36-year-old received a warm and rousing ovation from the home crowd during introductions. "It brought back a lot of great memories," Iginla said of his return. Jiri Hudler had the lone goal for Calgary, which received 22 saves from Reto Berra in a losing cause. "I think the best way to describe this is a lack of maturity," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said of his team allowing Boston to get back in the game in the third. It was the third loss in Calgarys last four home games, dropping the club to 5-7-3 at the Saddledome this season. This evenings game marks the first meeting between the Canes and Flames since Calgary posted a 7-6 home win on Dec. 6, 2011. Iginla scored twice for the Flames in that win. Calgary has taken five of seven from Carolina overall and the Hurricanes have dropped four straight and five of six at the Saddledome. Carolinas last win in Calgary came on Dec. 12, 2002. After consecutive losses to begin a four-game road trip, the Hurricanes hope to pick up a win in Calgary. The Hurricanes carried a three-game winning streak into this current trek, but lost 2-0 at Vancouver on Monday before dropping a 5-4 overtime decision the following night in Edmonton. However, Carolina did do a good job to even earn a point in Tuesdays setback, as they fell behind 4-1 to the Oilers before mounting a comeback. The Staal brothers -- Jordan and Eric -- each scored a goal to cut the deficit to 4-3 and Jeff Skinner tied it late in the third for Carolina. Eric Staals short-handed tally came 7:47 into the third period and Skinners tying marker was at the 14:46 mark. However, Jordan Eberle notched a power- play goal at 1:48 of OT to deliver the 5-4 victory for the hometown Oilers. "We showed some good jump battling back into the game," said Eric Staal. "Unfortunately, we had to kill a lot of penalties." In addition to goals from the Staals and Skinner, Carolina also received a tally from Tuomo Ruutu. Cam Ward took the loss after yielding all five goals on 29 shots. The loss dropped Carolina to 6-7-2 as the visiting team this season. PETERSBURG, Fla.BOSTON -- Justin Florek and Reilly Smith scored in a three-minute span in the first period and the Boston Bruins evened their playoff series with a 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings in the Game 2 on Sunday. Showing more spark after not taking enough challenging shots on goal in their 1-0 loss Friday night, the Bruins had 18 shots in the first period after managing just 25 in the entire opener. Luke Glendening cut Bostons lead to 2-1 at 13:20 of the second period before Milan Lucic scored late in the second and Zdeno Chara added a power-play goal early in the third. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series between the top-seeded Bruins, who won the Presidents Cup with an NHL-high 117 points, and eighth-seeded Red Wings is set for Detroit on Tuesday night. On Sunday, Boston didnt take its first shot until 7:28 into the opening period. And it went in. Florek, a rookie wing filling in for the injured Chris Kelly on the third line, scored after Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard and defenceman Brendan Smith missed connecting on a pass. Howard came out of his crease to collect a loose puck and passed it toward Smith, who was skating back along the right boards. But the puck bounced off Smiths right calf and into the circle where Florek shot quickly before Howard could get back. It was Floreks first career playoff goal after he scored one goal in four regular-season games. The Bruins made it 2-0 at 10:35 on a power-play goal by Smith, whose brother Brendan plays on the Wings. Howard stopped Patrice Bergerons shot from the blue line and Loui Eriksson poked the puck between Howards legs. Smith then skated behind Howard and tapped it in. Albie Lopez Jersey. . Glendening positioned himself in the right spot, just in front of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask to score his first career playoff goal. Darren Helms shot from the top of the right circle hit Boston defenceman Johnny Boychuks stick just in front of the crease. The puck went up, hit Glendening in the chest and got past Rask. The Bruins top line, which had struggled, restored the momentum about five minutes later on a well-co-ordinated play. Lucic carried the puck into the middle of the offensive zone as Jarome Iginla cut behind him. Lucic dropped the puck for Iginla and continued toward the net where he received a return pass across the slot from Iginla. Lucics hard shot from five feet hit Howards stick and trickled over the goal line at 18:16. Lucic was fined $5,000 but not suspended Saturday for spearing Detroit defenceman Danny DeKeyser during the opener. Chara finished the scoring at 2:27 of the third period just 17 seconds after Kyle Quincey was penalized. Iginla passed the puck from low in the right circle and the 6-foot-9 Chara, standing to the left of Howard, knocked it in. NOTES: Bostons David Krejci appeared to score an empty-net goal with 2:10 left, but Lucic was ruled offside. ... Bruins defenceman Kevan Miller returned to the lineup after missing the opener with an undisclosed issue. ... Pavel Datsyuk, who scored the only goal in the opener, had no shots on goal in the first two periods. ... VIRGINIA WATER, England -- Shane Lowry birdied his closing two holes for a 2-under 70 Friday to join Thomas Bjorn in the lead after the second round of the BMW PGA Championship. Lowry overcame a double bogey on the ninth hole by making four birdies on his back nine to erase a two-shot deficit to Bjorn, who carded a 72 on a day of intermittent rain showers. The duo was four shots clear of the field with 10-under totals of 134. Spains Rafa Cabrera-Bello (73) and former BMW PGA winner Luke Donald (67) were tied for third. Rory McIlroy was another shot back along with Swedish duo Jonas Blixt and Henrik Stenson after all three carded 71. The 27-year old Lowry won the 2009 Irish Open in a playoff as an amateur, and then added the 2012 Portugal Masters title after turning professional. This, though, would be by far the biggest win of his career. "I just have to go out and keep doing what I have been doing," the 142nd-ranked Irishman said. "Ive got my coach with me this week, so hes quite good at getting me ready to play no matter what situation Im in. And it will be good to go out with Thomas tomorrow and see how I get on." "Theres two very hard days ahead of us, so we know what this championship is all about. " Defending champion Matteo Manassero missed the cut after following up an 80 with a 71. McIlroy fought back from double bogey on the seventh hole, which he eagled the day before, to stay in contention. McIlroy finished much better than he started, as he eagled the par-five 12th for a second straight day, and birdied three of his last four holes. "The way the conditions were this morning, being 3-over par after seven wasnt all that bad, and it wasnt disastrous," he said. Blixt, the Masters runner-up, is eyeing his maiden European Tour victory. "My golf hasnt been too great but I kind of saved myself a couple of times, hitting some really good shots," Blixt said. "I dont think now with the rain settling in that anyone is going to run away with it. "But I cant remember the last time I played wearing so much clothing. It became really cold out there." ' ' '

Last April, Nik Stauskass season at Michigan came crashing to a halt with a tough 82-76 loss to the Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA Championship game. Soccer Jerseys Online . The 66" shooting guard started all but six games in his freshman year, averaging 11 points per game and shooting .440 from the three-point line. Based on his post-game comments, it was clear that he took the championship loss hard. "We just got to move on," he said, his eyes clearly filled with tears. "I know myself, Im going to get back in the gym tomorrow to start working on my game." Stauskas wasnt giving lip service. The dozen or so shooting videos, shot from his backyard in Mississauga, Ontario in sun, rain and snow on YouTube, attest to his incredible drive. His quest for improvement was doubly as important as the top two players on the Wolverines, National Player of the Year, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway, Jr., were both selected as first-round picks in this past Junes NBA Draft. With their departure, someone had to emerge on the team to pick up the slack and Stauskass work ethic would not allow it to be anyone else but him. "It just comes from me loving the game," he said. "I enjoy playing basketball, so its not really work for me. I enjoy getting better and anytime you go out there and see yourself being successful, it motivates you to try even more and get even better. Its kind of like a cycle for me - the better I get, the more I want to work." Already established as one of the best shooters in college basketball, Stauskas spent the summer in Ann Arbor, Michigan, rounding out his game. Working on his ball-handling to take defenders off the dribble and finish at the rim, he also added 16 pounds of muscle to his lithe frame. The result of his efforts was something no one expected him to do, by averaging 18.2 points in his first 11 games of the season. When met with stiffer competition in the Big 10 Conference, he led the Wolverines to a 9-1 record in one of the toughest conferences in the NCAA, all of which translated into Michigan moving up the national rankings and garnering the sophomore a spot on the Naismith Award Midseason Top 30 list. "Ive never really had recognition like that before," Stauskas said. "To be put in that group with those guys, its an honour. Theyre all really talented and its a prestigious award. Im happy that I can be there and that my work is paying off." Yet as Stauskass talent continues to develop with increased freedom and responsibility, opposing coaches have recognized this, as well. In some games, he has been neutralized as defences key in on Michigans primary threat. "I think the biggest challenge for me personally has just been addressing the way teams have been defending me," he said. "A lot of teams have been preparing for me, more than anyone else on our team. Getting double-teamed and being face-guarded has been an adjustment for me, cause Ive never had to deal with that before. Its made me work harder in a lot of areas I havent had to work on before." Stauskass growth, however, isnt solely physical, as he has had to make the adjustment to being a leader on his team. "Its tougher to pick up the rest of the team and stay positive and encourage everyone else while you struggle personally," Stauskas. Yet, he recognizes its a necessary adjustment to take his team and game to the next level. His focus and drive to succeed wont allow him to think otherwise. This April, Stauskas has similar visions on what another Michigan group of fabulous freshmen accomplished in consecutive seasons - back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championship game. "After the loss we had in the Final Four, obviously our goal is to get back there and win that championship game," he said. "At the same time, we came two points away from winning a Big 10 Championship. Those are both goals I want to achieve coming back this year. The way were playing right now, I think were right on pace to do that, we just have to keep working hard." Wholesale Soccer Jerseys . The Boston Celtics hadnt played since the All-Star break. "Dud is a shooter.DALLAS -- Dallas Stars centre Cody Eakin skated the length of the ice, got around a sliding defender, closed his eyes and shot just before his stick got ripped out of his hands. The top-seeded Anaheim Ducks can clearly see they are in quite a fight now. Eakin scored on Dallas first shot of the third period, Alex Goligoski scored on the next one 1:22 later and the Stars beat the Ducks 4-2 in Game 4 on Wednesday night to even the best-of-seven series. "Once I came around that D-man ... I saw a guy and there was a lane," Eakin said. "So, I just closed my eyes and shot." Even without captain Ryan Getzlaf, a surprise late scratch with an upper-body injury, and healthy scratch Teemu Selanne, the Ducks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. "Its not often we get outworked," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "But I thought after that, the last 40 was as hard as the boys could go. They emptied the tank." The Stars, who got physical at home after a pair of one-goal losses in Anaheim to start the series, are assured of playing another home game in their first playoff appearance since 2008. "All year weve been good at putting stuff behind us. Things havent been going well, weve been able to put periods behind us," Goligoski said. "We just stuck with the plan, kept going, kept getting in their zone and it paid off." Game 5 is Friday night in Anaheim, and the series returns Sunday to the American Airlines Center for Game 6. Stars captain Jaime Benn scored unassisted, his third goal of the series, off a faceoff 27 seconds into the second period. About 6 minutes later, Vernon Fiddler managed to get the puck in a small gap between the post and rookie goalie Frederick Andersen to tie it at 2. Getzlaf took a puck in the face in the series opener and played the last two games with a half-cage to protect the stitches just below his mouth. It wasnt clear if the upper-body injury was related to that, or was a different issue for the captain, and coach Bruce Boudreau wouldnt elaborate despite being asked about it several times. "It was a previous injury aggravated, but thats all Im going to say," said Boudreau, who downplayed the captains absence being deflating. "In the first period, it made us come out and do whatever we had to do." Bryan Allen scored on a shot from just inside the blue line with 7:43 left in the first period. Anaheim led 2-0 after Matthieuu Perreaults shot that hit Kari Lehtonens glove and fell over the goalies shoulder behind him. Soccer Jerseys 2020. The puck trickled in with help from Patrick Maroon, the left wing who got the goal after talking about retaliation against Dallas after what the Ducks had perceived as over-aggressive play. Just like Game 3, there were plenty of scrums Wednesday night. With 2:10 left, Anaheims Corey Perry and Antoine Roussel got in some big blows before being separated and given 5-minute majors for fighting. It was Roussel who punched Getzlaf in the previous game. There were also five 10-minute misconduct penalties in that closing stretch, and referees had to separate several groups of players when the game ended. "Thats the type of stuff thats their pushback, its our pushback," Ruff said. "I really feel like were in a playoff series now." Eakin hit the post in the opening minute of the third period, but didnt miss the go-ahead goal with 13:38 left. The raucous crowd was still in a frenzy when Fiddler backhanded a pass to Goligoski for a wrist shot that made it 4-2. "I felt a little bit off. It was a shock on the first one, and the second one snuck by me. I was expecting (Fiddler) to pass," Andersen said. " They came out of nowhere in the second. We werent ready for their push." Andersen was then pulled in favour of Jonas Hiller, the veteran goalie who won 29 games during the Ducks best regular season in franchise history before a late slump that left him on the bench until that point. Hiller faced only one shot in his 10 1/2 minutes, and Boudreau said he would discuss the goalie situation his assistants before deciding who starts Game 5. Lehtonen, who was 0-4 in post-season games before stopping 37 shots in Dallas 3-0 win on Monday night, had 21 saves Wednesday night. "Being able to tie this series, its huge," Lehtonen said. "I think were a confident group. ... And even more so now." Notes: The 43-year-old Selanne, who is in his 21st and expected to be his last NHL season, has appeared in a franchise-record 87 post-season games for the Ducks, 15 more than Getzlaf. Selanne also is the teams top post-season scorer with 64 points (33 goals, 31 assists), one more than Getzlaf (23 goals, 40 assists). ... Benn has also had an assist and has scored in each game. It appeared that he added an empty-net goal with 1:04 left, but play had been whistled dead. ' ' '

Harvick, in his first season as driver of the No. 4 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing, grabbed the pole for Sundays 400-mile race at Kansas after posting a lap at 197.621 mph in the third and final round of knockout qualifying. He set a new track qualifying record at this 1.5-mile racetrack when he turned a lap at 197.773 mph during the second round. It was the 20th time this season that a new track qualifying record has been set in NASCARs premier series. Harvick has surpassed a previous track record six times in 2014 -- Texas, Michigan, Indianapolis, Bristol and both Kansas races. One year ago when he drove for Richard Childress Racing, Harvick won the Chase race at Kansas after starting on the pole and leading the most laps with 138. When the series most recently competed here in May, the first night race at this track, he started on the pole and led the most laps with 119 but finished second to Jeff Gordon. For whatever reason, this fits everything that I have going on with my driving style, Harvick said. But in the end, its all about having fast cars. Last year, we had a fast car, and this year, we have had a fast car as well. So just have to thank everybody on my Budweiser (sponsor) team for staying focused, continuing to build better race cars and controlling all the things that we can control. Our cars are fast, we are qualifying well, our pit stops are good, cars are reliable and everything is good. We just need a little bit of good luck to go with it. Its just like I keep telling these guys - that stuff will all come fulll circle and hopefully it does it at the right time this year. Replica Yeezy. Harvick has two wins in Sprint Cup this season but has not been to victory lane in the series since April 12 at Darlington (21 races ago). I just feel like with a little bit of good luck we can beat every car here, every week, at any style racetrack, he said. Everything is there. Its just a matter of having everything come together on the luck side. Well just keep plugging away. While Harvick claimed his 14th career pole in Cup, Johnson qualified 32nd, which matched his worst starting position in a race this season. Making his second lap in the first qualifying round, Johnsons car spun out in turn 2. He did not make contact with anything. Brian Vickers, who is not in the Chase, will start on the front row for the first time this season after qualifying second at 196.307 mph. Wow, that was a fun lap, Vickers said. Aric Almirola, who was eliminated from the Chase last weekend at Dover, qualified third, matching his best starting spot of the season. Joey Logano grabbed the fourth position, followed by Jeff Gordon, who leads all drivers with three victories at Kansas. Im happy with where we ended up, Gordon said. A top-five, you have to be happy with that starting position. Qualifying sixth through 12th were: Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards. Logano, Gordon, Keselowski, Busch, Earnhardt, Kahne and Edwards remain in the Chase. Kansas is the first of three races in round 2 of the playoffs, known as the Contender Round. The other Chase drivers and their starting positions are: Ryan Newman (17th), Denny Hamlin (25th) and Matt Kenseth (27th). All 43 drivers who attempted qualifying made the starting field for Sundays race. ' ' '
Great news for NCAA fans in Canada, as 16 of the 35 bowl games this season can be found on TSN, TSN2 or TSN1050 (and in some cases multiple platforms). Raptors Jerseys China . All of the games arent created equal and with bowl season kicking off Saturday with the first four matchups, its time to rank them from best to "35th most exciting." 1. BCS National Championship - Florida State vs Auburn (January 6th, 8:30 on TSN and TSN1050)The easiest decision on the list sees #1 and #2 in the BCS fighting for the National Championship. The only remaining FCS undefeated team in the Seminoles takes on the biggest Cinderella story college football has seen in years in the Auburn Tigers. If watching the two best teams of the season battle for the crystal trophy isnt enough, tune in for a chance to watch Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston cap off his freshman season. 2. Rose Bowl - Michigan State vs Stanford (January 1st, 5:00 on TSN2)The granddaddy of them all takes place on a loaded New Years Day and features two of the best defenses in the country. Stanford came out of the difficult Pac-12 while Michigan State ended Ohio States title hopes to win the BIG 10. If you love smash mouth football this is the game for you. 3. Valero Alamo Bowl - Texas vs Oregon (December 30th, 6:45 on TSN1050)This game shot up my list the minute Mack Brown announced it would be his last game on the sidelines for the Longhorns. After a storied career that included a national championship hell step down after this game. Texas has a chance to win one for their coach against a very talented Oregon team that may not be excited to be playing in the Alamo bowl after opening the season with national championship hopes. Still, this game has intriguing storylines and talent all over the field its a must-see game. 4. Orange Bowl - Ohio State vs Clemson (January 3rd, 8:30 on TSN2 and TSN1050)Ohio State had the inside track to the title game before losing to Michigan State in the BIG 10 Championship. Clemson had their championship hopes dashed earlier in the year when they fell, and fell hard against Florida State. Even though both teams had higher hopes, theyll both be out to win a very competitive BCS bowl game against a similar style team. Neither defense is very imposing this season, and both offences are incredible. Braxton Miller facing off with Tajh Boyd could be the best QB battle of the bowl season. 5. Chick-Fil-A Bowl - Texas A&M vs Duke (January 31st, 8:00)Johnny Manziel is expected to bolt to the NFL after this game, so its the last chance to see one of colleges most electric players put on a show. Its ironic that a player with red flags for off-field partying issues will ring in the New Year trying to hang points on what should be an over-matched Duke squad. The Blue Devils enjoyed their most successful football season ever, but did it in a weak ACC and were exposed against FSU in the conference title game. Theyll look to bounce back and prove they belong amongst college footballs semi-elite. 6. All-State Sugar Bowl - Alabama vs Oklahoma (January 2nd, 8:30 on TSN2 and TSN1050)Nick Saban signed an extension thatll pay him nearly $7 million a season to roam the sidelines in Tuscaloosa. He can start to earn some of that coin with a victory over Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. The Crimson Tide may have missed out on a chance on a third straight national championship but adding to their recent resume with a win in this game would still be a great coup. Its also the last chance to watch Heisman runner-up AJ Mccarron before he graduates and heads to the NFL. 7. Fiesta Bowl - Baylor vs UCF (January 1st, 8:30, TSN2 or TSN1050)Both of these teams over-achieved and find themselves in a BCS bowl for the first time. Interesting story line to follow for this one is Bears head coach Art Briles who has been linked to gigs with Texas and in the NFL with the Washington Redskins despite signing an extension this year. Its a last audition for him to show off his exciting and productive offence. QB Bryce Petty has decided to come back next year, but watching him and RB Lache Seastrunk alone makes this appointment viewing. 8. AT&T Cotton Bowl - Missouri vs Oklahoma State (January 3rd, 1:00)Missouri lost their chance at the title game when they took their second loss of the season in the SEC championship game. Oklahoma State missed their chance at a Big 12 crown when they lost their finale to Oklahoma. Despite both teams coming in after taking an "L" they both had incredible years and should match-up to provide some entertainment in a battle of programs trending in the right direction. 9. Capital One Bowl - South Carolina vs Wisconsin (January 1st, 1:00)Jadeveon Clowney has his last chance to impress NFL scouts on a football field before turning pro after what was a disappointing campaign. He is still a freak, and properly motivated could provide viewers with quite the show. On the other side will be a Wisconsin team that would like to be playing in a different New Years Day game but should still be very motivated to knock off a tough SEC opponent. RBs Melvin Gordon and James White both ran for over 1,000 yards and are among the best tandems in college football. Itll be interesting to see how those two avoid Clowney on the other side of the ball. 10. Russell Athletic Bowl - Louisville vs Miami (December 28th, 6:45)QB Teddy Bridgewater claims he hasnt made up his mind regarding leaving college for the pro game, but make no mistake hes leaving Louisville after this bowl game. Much like Clowney and a few others vying for the number one draft slot its his last on-field chance to make a statement. Miami could prove to be a worthy foe; they were a top-10 program before getting slammed by FSU. 11. Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl - Fresno State vs USC (December 21, 3:30)The best game of the opening day sees QB Derek Carr of Fresno State take on the Trojans who will be auditioning for new coach Steve Sarkisian. While USC wont have their new boss on the sidelines, its always added incentive for players when they know their new coach is taking notes. As for Carr, this is the 3rd straight game on the list that has a top-tier NFL draft prospect stating his case. Carrs brother David was a number-one selection, and while Derek may not go that high he does have the chance to be the first QB off the board. 12. Taxslayer.com Bowl - Georgia vs Nebraska (January 1st, Noon)There are a few SEC versus BIG 10 matchups this bowl season. Bo Pelini may be coaching for his job for the Cornhuskers, and hes also coaching to give some respect to the BIG 10. A win in this game would go a long way for the conference in their bid to shake the "down" label. One player to watch is RB Todd Gurley for Georgia, watch for him to pick up the slack with QB Aaron Murray out due to injury. 13. Outback Bowl - LSU vs Iowa (January 1st, 1:00 on TSN2)This game features an SEC team with an injured QB taking on a BIG 10 program fighting for respect. Its crazy how similar this game is to the Taxslayer.com bowl. Iowas defense has a chance to keep them in this one, and with QB Zach Mettenberger out, LSU may struggle to score points. This game has a chance to be a defensive battle, but that doesnt mean it wont be fun to watch. 14. Poinsetta Bowl - Northern Illinois vs Utah State (December 26th, 9:30 on TSN1050)Huskies QB Jordan Lynch was a Heisman nominee and one of the few players in the country you must watch. He plays in the MAC which doesnt receive much attention but his game is definitely worth enjoying. His combination of pass/rush is very unique and very successful. He is similar to Ohio State QB Braxton Miller, but plays for a team that relies on him much more. 15. Hawaii Bowl - Boise State vs Oregon State (December 24th, 8:00 on TSN2 and TSN1050)When youre done with dinner on Christmas Eve cozy up by the fire place and turn on the television to watch these two programs do battle. Much like USC, the Broncos will be out auditioning for a new head coach after Chris Petersen bolted to Washington. 16. Sun Bowl - UCLA vs Virginia Tech (December 31st, 2:00)UCLA QB Brett Hundley may head to the NFL after this one and he may go with a prominent agent. Hundleys father joked about a meeting with JAY-Z saying if they were going to meet he wanted Beyonce in the room. Sounds funny, but with a big performance in this one its all but a done deal Hundley moves on. For those who love coaching controversy UCLAs Jim Mora has been rumored as an option at Texas. A big win here could keep his name in those discussions. 17. Pinstripe Bowl - Rutgers vs Notre Dame (December 28th, Noon)Sometimes the venue alone is reason to watch a game and thats the case with the Pinstripe Bowl which is held at Yankee Stadium. Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees will play his final game against an awful pass defense that ranked 120th in the country and Vegas expects a big performance - the Fighting Irish are currently more than two touchdown favorites. 18. Advocare V100 Bowl - Arizona vs Boston College (December 31st, 12:30)Kadeem Carey of Arizona and Andre Williams of Boston College are the two of the best backs in the country. Williams rushed for 2,102 yards which was tops in the FBS, while Carey took top spot back in 2012. The passing games may not be on display in this one, but the running attacks make it worth tuning in for. 19. Holiday Bowl - Arizona State vs Texas Tech (December 30th, 10:50 on TSN1050)Todd Graham won Pac-12 coach of the year and Red Raiders HC Kliff Kingsbury is one of the fastest rising bosses in the NCAA. Arizona State enters having won seven straight while Texas Tech has lost five in a row after starting with seven straight wins. Two top-20 offenses could light up the scoreboard and provide one of the most exciting bowl games on the schedule. 20. Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl - Michigan vs Kansas State (December 28, 10:15)This has been billed as a battle of two teams in a rebuilding year - but dont buy that story. Michigan wasnt rebuilding, they underachieved and suffered five losses under third year coach Brady Hoke. On the positive side, the Wolverines came within a two-point conversion of winning "The Game" against Ohio State. Its been Jeckyl and Hyde for Michigan this season and its anyones guess which team will show up for this one. Two bright spots are QB Devin Gardner and WR Jeremy Gallon. Kansas State looks for their first bowl win since 2002. 21. Fight Hunger Bowl - BYU vs Washington (December 27th, 9:30)Steve Sarkisian is out as Huskies coach after taking over the USC Trojans program but Washington arguably upgraded landing Chris Petersen. He wont be on the sidelines but hell have eyes on this tilt which sees two top-15 offences do battle at AT&T Park in San Francisco. QB Keith Price and RB Bishop Sankey of Washington are two key players to watch in this one. 22. Music City Bowl - Ole Miss vs Georgia Tech (December 30th, 3:15)Ole Miss has won their last five bowl games but enter this one on a two-game losing streak. They failed to score 10 points in both of those losses and may have a tough time putting up points against the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech will run the ball to eat clock using the triple-option before sending out the nations 21st ranked defence. QB Bo Wallace will need to have a strong performance for Ole Miss to make it six straight bowl wins. 23. BBVA Compass Bowl - Houston vs Vanderbilt (January 4th, 1:00, TSN2)HC James Franklin has Vandy trending in the right direction with 17 wins in the last two seasons. To put how big of an accomplishment that is into perspective, its the first time ever the program is heading to a bowl game for a third straight year. They won their final four games, while Houston lost three of four4 heading into bowl season. The Cougars will lean on their 16th ranked defense to keep this one close. 24. Belk Bowl - Cincinnati vs North Carolina (December 28th, 3:20)UNC let the fans pick their uniforms for this one, which is cool and gives me a reason to tune in. If youre looking for something a little deeper the atmosphere should be great with North Carolina playing only 140 miles from Chapel Hill. On the other side of the field theyll see a Bearcats team thats been here before; they won the Belk Bowl last season. 25. Little Caesars Pizza Bowl - Bowling Green vs Pittsburgh (December 26th, 6:00)Bowling Green won the MAC title upending Jordan Lynch and the Huskies in the title game at Ford Field, and now they find themselves back in Detroit. They average 14.8 points allowed per game which is fifth-best in the FBS. Pitt boasts Senior Aaron Donald who won defensive player of the year. 26. New Mexico Bowl - Washington State vs Colorado State (December 21st, 2:00 on TSN2 and TSN1050) Colorado State will go as far as RB Kapri Bibbs takes them. Hes a high end talent that scored 28 TDs this season. Cougars HC Mike Leach loves to pass the ball which is good and bad - fun to watch, but QB Connor Halliday threw 21 interceptions, which was worst in the FBS. This game should be full of big plays, points, and mistakes. 27. GoDaddy Bowl - Arkansas State vs Ball State (January 3rd, 9:00)You have to feel bad for juniors on Arkansas State - when they return for their fourth year next season theyll have a fourth head coach after Bryan Harsin accepted the Boise State gig. That said; its their third straight appearance in this bowl and got the bid after finishing as co-Sun Belt champs. Ball State QB Keith Wenning will top 4,000 yards passing in this one and had an impressive 34:6 TD/INT ratio. 28. Autozone Liberty Bowl - Rice vs Mississippi State (December 31st, 4:00)The Mississippi State Bulldogs won their final two games in overtime to get six wins and become bowl eligible. Six wins may not be overly impressive, but all six of the Bulldogs losses came against Top 25 ranked teams (Oklahoma State, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Alabama). Rice won 10 games and took home their first outright conference title since 1957. 29. Famous Idaho Potato Bowl - Buffalo vs San Diego State (December 21st, 5:30 on TSN2 and TSN1050)Khalil Mack is the highlight of this bowl game. He racked up 94 tackles, 11 sacks, three interceptions and two TDs this season for Buffalo. Many NFL mock drafts have Mack in the top 10 and a big performance here could land him right there. There are lots of offensive players worth watching this bowl season, but very few defensive stars that are worth tuning in for - Mack is one. 30. Texas Bowl - Syracuse vs Minnesota (December 27th, 6:00)The Orangemen find themselves in back-to-back bowl games for the first time since Donovan McNabb - and all it took was a victory over Boston College in the final week of the season to do it. Minnesota returns to the Texas Bowl after losing last season. The Golden Gophers are looking to win nine games for just the second time in 108 years. 31. Beef OBrady St. Petersburgh Bowl - East Carolina vs Ohio (December 23rd, 2:00 on TSN2)ECU has a great QB/WR tandem in Shane Carden and Justin Hardy thats worth seeing before the year is complete. Carden was sixth in passing with 3,800 yards, while Hardy caught 105 passes; which was fifth best in the FBS. The Bobcats 29th ranked pass defense will need to step up if they have any chance of hanging with ECU. 32. Bell Helicopter Bowl - Middle Tennessee vs Navy (December 30, 11:45AM on TSN2)Navy runs the triple-option and was second best in the country with 322 yards per game on the ground. MTSU was 85th versus the run. This one could be a track meet, and who doesnt love long running plays and lots of scoring. 33. Military Bowl - Marshall vs Maryland (December 27th, 2:30 on TSN2)The Terps head to the Big 10 next season, and would love to take a bowl win with them. Theyll play this one in front of a home crowd with Navy Stadium only 27 miles from campus. Marshall is trying to win 10 games for the first time since 2002 - when QB Byron Leftwich was the star. This year its been another pivot leading the way in Rakeem Cato. His 36:9 TD/INT ratio was one of the best in all of college football. 34. R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl - Tulane vs Louisiana Lafayette (December 21, 9:00 on TSN2 and TSN1050)Despite being 34th on the list, if I could attend one bowl game this season it would be this one for the BBQ at the tailgate parties alone. The Green Wave vs the Rajin Cajuns is the battle of two of the coolest names in the NCAA. If youre looking for a player to watch, try Tulane QB Nick Montana - hes the son of Joe Montana. 35. Heart of Dallas Bowl - UNLV vs North Texas (January 1st, Noon)And the award for the "35th best" bowl game goes to the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Its in tough against the packed New Years Day schedule but its still a bowl game - and thats saying something. Follow The TSN College Football Show on twitter @TSNCollegeShow and tweet us your picks and comments throughout the entire bowl season. Toronto Raptors Pro Shop . The Chicago Bulls superstar was back on his court, back in his element. Rose showed some of his old explosiveness, fellow Chicago product Anthony Davis scored 20 points, and the U.S. beat Brazil 95-78 on Saturday night in a tuneup for the World Cup of Basketball. With deafening cheers rocking the arena, Rose looked like an MVP at times even if he only had seven points. He also seemed happy to defer to his teammates in his first appearance at the United Center since his latest season-ending knee injury. "I think everybodys excited," Rose said. "It was cool. At the same time, I cant get big-headed about it or anything like that. Ive just got to keep poised." What he needs to be is the player he was — or close to it —before the knee injuries started to pile up. A torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and a torn meniscus in his right knee two of the past three seasons derailed a rocketing rise from the citys South Side to the No. 1 pick in the draft and stardom with his hometown team. The Bulls are counting on Rose to lead them back to contention in the Eastern Conference after they added some key pieces, including Pau Gasol. "For Derrick, there are so many positives for this," said Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, a U.S. assistant. "He shakes the rust off. He has a tremendous amount of pride. Its something that he wants to do and believes that he should do. I think this will be great preparation for the season." Davis, who like Rose grew up on Chicagos South Side, dominated down the stretch, and the U.S. pulled away after Brazil kept it close for three quarters. With a five-point lead going into the fourth, the U.S. went on a 14-2 run to break open a 68-63 game. Klay Thompson nailed a 3-pointer to start it, and Davis took over. He hit two free throws and blocked a shot by Larry Taylor, leading to a three-point play for James Harden. Davis then threw down an alley-oop dunk to make it a 155-point game, and after Leandro Barbosa scored for Brazil, he nailed a jumper. John Candelaria Jersey. . Harden (18 points) finished the run with two free throws, making it 82-65. Tiago Splitter scored 16 for Brazil. Fans started chanting, "We want Rose!" with their favourite player watching from the sideline as the U.S. pulled away. They got their wish when he checked back in with 5:20 left and let out yet another loud roar, although coach Mike Krzyzewski insisted he wasnt catering to the crowd. Thats how it was all night for Rose. Fans showed up in Bulls No. 1 jerseys — hes No. 6 for the U.S. They gave him a deafening ovation and chanted "MVP! MVP!" during the introductions and went wild again as he grabbed the microphone for a heartfelt address to the crowd before the opening tip. He referenced the violence in Chicago and said this game was "huge for the city." The U.S. might not have as much star power as it has in the past, particularly with MVP Kevin Durant and others withdrawing and Paul George suffering a gruesome leg injury. Even so, the U.S. was looking good with a 29-15 lead through the first quarter. Rose really didnt go hard to the rim until early in the second, when he beat Raul Neto with a crossover and got fouled. He made 1 of 2 free throws as the crowd chanted "MVP! MVP!" Moments later, he blew a wide-open tomahawk dunk, sending a groan through the arena, and he also headed to the locker room with a cut near his left eye with about 5 1/2 minutes left in the half. Brazil, meanwhile got within 35-33 on a basket by Splitter with 4:27 left. But the U.S. led 45-37 at the half after Rose raced up the court for a floater at the buzzer to the crowds delight after two free throws by Nene. Rose had them roaring again when he beat Neto and switched to his left hand in midair on a drive with just over 3:30 left in the third, making it 64-53. "Playing against this competition, I was just trying to get my wind back," Rose said. "I am going hard at practice and pushing myself every day." ' ' '

DENVER -- The Milwaukee Brewers are on such a roll away from home not even playing imperfect baseball can stop them. Air Max 97 False . Aramis Ramirez homered and drove in two runs, and the Brewers continued their road dominance with a 6-5 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. It wasnt the prettiest series win for the Brewers, who gave up 19 runs in the three games and allowed 15 hits on Sunday. But they found a way to win all weekend. Now they head back to Milwaukee for a seven-game homestand, including four against Colorado starting Thursday. "We play pretty good at home, too," Ramirez said. "Weve played pretty well on the road but youre always looking forward to go home. We just finished a great road trip and were looking for a great homestand." Milwaukee swept the Rockies to finish 6-1 on a road trip that started in Arizona. The Brewers 27-15 record and .643 winning percentage away from home is the best in the majors. Oakland (.622) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (.615) are the only other teams close to matching Milwaukees success. Kyle Lohse (9-2), who allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings to win consecutive starts for the first time in a month. "It was a great road trip, certainly with the wins," manager Ron Roenicke said. "We made some mistakes, there were plays we didnt make the right way. If we continue to win we have to play cleaner baseball." Colorado couldnt take advantage when Milwaukee was sloppy. The Rockies squandered several scoring opportunities and missed a chance to rally in the ninth when an overthrow led to the first out of the inning. With Milwaukee leading 6-4, Corey Dickerson led off the bottom of the inning with a triple off the wall in right. The throw from the centerfielder Carlos Gomez got past Ramirez at third and Dickerson hesitated before heading down the baseline. He fell halfway to home, giving Ramirez enough time to throw him out at the plate. "He was going to score on that play," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "His legs gave out and he stumbled there between third and home." Wilin Rosario followed with his eighth homer of the season, but Francisco Rodriguez settled down to get his 25th save in 27 chances. "I guess when you are good things go good," Ramirez said, "If that guy doesnt fall, Rosario hits the homer and its a tie ballgame." Rodriguez tweaked his left ankle on an earlier pitch to Dickerson but stayed in the game. Ryan Braun also rolled his ankle going back for a ball in right field but kept playing. "Its not serious but I dont know about tomorrow," Roenicke said of Braun. Rosario finished with four hits and had three RBIs for Colorado, which has lost six straight and fell to 6-14 in June. After winning 16 of their first 23 home games the Rockies have lost 10 of 13 at Coors Field, where they have been swept twice in June. Rockies rookie right-hander Tyler Matzek (1-2) was roughed up in the second before setting down 11 straight. He ran into trouble after retiring the first two batters of the fifth and the game tied at 3-3. With runners on first and second, Jonathan Lucroy singled to right, scoring Rickie Weeks from second. Lucroy was caught in a rundown between first and second and Braun was able to score from third to make it 5-3. "Theyre a good-hitting team," Matzek said. "I just tried to pound the zone and just kept leaving it up." The Rockies made it a one-run game in the eighth on Drew Stubbs RBI triple to right but Lyle Overbay led off the ninth with a pinch-hit home run to restore the two-run cushion. Gomez extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a leadoff single in the second and Ramirez followed with a two-run homer, his 10th, to make it 2-0. Consecutive singles put runners on first and third for Milwaukee, and a double-play grounder by Lohse scored Khris Davis to make it 3-0. The Rockies rallied to tie it with a run in the second and two in the third on Rosarios double to right-centre. NOTES: Sundays win was Roenickes 300th as a manager. ... Gomez has reached base in 35 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors. ... Rockies C Michael McKenry will leave the team Monday for a three-day bereavement leave. Jackson Williams will serve as Rosarios backup for the series against St. Louis. ... Rockies RHP Christian Bergman will have an MRI on his left hand Monday, head trainer Keith Dugger said. "That was the first thought that came into my head, flashbacks to what happened on that day," said Schneider, who was a teammate of Fischer in Detroit that season. "Hes a big man and he collapsed right on me. That was one of the scariest moments of my career. At first you had no idea what was happening but then he started convulsing, it was really scary for everyone." Its the type of situation that nobody ever anticipates, even less so amongst a group of highly conditioned athletes in peak physical condition. "It was shocking particularly because Fischer was just an incredible athlete and in amazing shape, you dont expect it," said Schneider. "Last night was another very scary incident; I got texts as soon as it happened." Fischer was stabilized that day by the heroic work of Dr. Tony Collucci who was on the scene in seconds. His proximity to the bench played a big part in contributing to a positive result. As a result, the NHL requires that doctors have immediate access to the players bench to act in the case of such events transpiring. That scenario again played a role in helping to stabilize Peverley on Monday night as doctors were on the scene in seconds, able to treat the Stars forward for what team physician Gil Salazar termed a cardiac event. "Everything played out and transpired exactly as you would draw it up and luckily we had a fortunate result," said NHLL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. Air Max 97 In Offerta. "The leagues done a great job over the years to make sure every safety net is there and available to the guys," added Schneider. "In the two instances that Ive known, the doctors have literally saved the players lives." The news of Peverleys collapse quickly reached the leagues general managers who are gathered in Boca Raton, Florida for meetings this week. "Obviously it was a scary situation," said Daly. "We were all at a general managers dinner and we were alerted immediately to the events in Dallas. A number of us left the room and were being updated on a step by step basis to what was happening." Once it became clear what had transpired, Daly explained that the decision to postpone the game came at the urging of both the Dallas Stars and their opponents, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Having gone through a similar situation himself, Schneider agreed the right decision was made. "As a player being so close to your teammates, its too taxing, its too difficult to go back and I would think youd be playing half-heartedly in a situation like that," he said. Daly explained the NHL has identified a date to reschedule the game and intend to announce it later in the week. The Blue Jackets will be allowed to maintain their 1-0 lead that they had built through the first 6:23 of the game though a fresh sixty minutes will be played when the game is made up. The NHL followed the same procedure when the Red Wings and Predators game was completed in 2006 after Fischers incident, allowing Nashville to maintain their 1-0 lead. The Predators ultimately went on to win 3-2. ' ' '
CORK, Ireland -- Graeme McDowell birdied four of his closing eight holes to join two-time runner-up Robert Rock in the lead early on day two of the Irish Open on Friday. Fake Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Cheap . Both players shot 5-under-par 66 to move to 8 under for the tournament in superb scoring conditions at the Fota Island course. McDowell, looking to win the Irish Open for the first time, birdied three holes in succession from his 11th, and birdied his 15th. It was his lowest 36-hole tally on European Tour in 15 months, since he was 11 under en route to a tie for third in last years Cadillac Championship at Doral. "My game still requires some work but I feel like as I play my way into the summer, I feel my golf swing, my short game, and my putting is starting to get stronger," he said. "So I am a feel player and Im a guy that needs to spend time on the golf course with a card in his pocket to see where hes at. "And coming off last weeks U.S. Open, pressure and expectations are not as high this week, and I feel very comfortable." Rock was also feeling at home. Five years ago in Baltray, Rock lost to then-rookie Shane Lowry in a playoff. Rocks only consolation was Lowrys amateur status meant he had to forfeit the 500,000 euros first prize cheque. A year ago, Rock was joint runner-up in Dublin to fellow Englishman Paul Casey. "It is more to do with the time of year (for me), as I played well at the start of the year but then struggled, and your confidence takes a bit of a bashing. But then you work hard and I seem to start to play well again and it all turns around," he said. Justin Peters had a rough start for Carolina. Niklas Backstrom finished strong for Minnesota. Nino Niederreiter and Zach Parise scored with the first two shots of the season against Peters, and the Wild beat the Hurricanes 3-1 on Thursday night after both starting goalies got hurt. "You cant really pick and choose what happens there. You have to be ready no matter what happens," said Backstrom, who stopped all seven shots he faced in the third period after Josh Harding was pulled at the second intermission because of a lower-body injury. "Dont hide behind any excuses. Just go out there and try to help the guys." The Wild had no update on Hardings condition, but the Hurricanes announced before the second period was over that Cam Ward would miss three to four weeks with his lower-body injury. Ward was hurt just 4:07 into the game, and the Wild didnt take it easy on Peters, who stopped 19 shots after settling in. "I knew before long I was hopefully going to get an opportunity. It just came a little earlier than I thought," said Peters, who was called up from the AHL 10 days earlier and played in 47 games for the Hurricanes over the past four years. "Once I got into the game, I definitely felt a little more comfortable," he said. "Im just trying to prove to myself that Im an NHL goalie and instil that trust in the team." Ward started eight of Carolinas 10 games, and Anton Khudobin took the other two. Khudobin, a former Wild prospect, is out with a lower-body injury for at least another week. Mike Murphy will be summoned from the AHL for Fridays game at Colorado. Peters went 4-11-1 last season with a 3.46 goals-against average. "This is his opportunity, and hes got to find a way to get the job done," coach Kirk Muller said. Alexander Semins power-play goal in the second period pulled the Hurricanes within one, but they couldnt muster any more in the final frame. Less than 8 minutes into the first action of the season for Peters, after Semin was whistled for interferrence, the Wild scored on a power play when Mikael Granlund plucked the puck off the end boards and fed Niederreiter in the slot for a wrist shot he set up with a slick backhanded move. Best Replica Yeezy Website. "You want to get the pucks to the net as quick as you can," Niederrieter said. About 3 1/2 minutes later, Jared Spurgeon sent a slap shot pinging off the pipe. Parise beat defenceman Ryan Murphy to the deflection, and the rebound goal made it 2-0. Dany Heatley got his first goal of the season in the closing seconds, an empty-netter on a power play, to clinch the Wilds second straight win. They are 4-0-2 at home. The Wild played a sloppy second period, letting the Hurricanes climb back in the game. Backstrom came out for the third, his first appearance since an unspecified lower-body injury led to his early exit from the Wilds third game of the season. Harding took all but one start since, and he has been shining. The NHLs Masterton Award winner for perseverance and dedication for overcoming multiple sclerosis last season and playing an entire playoff series for the Wild, Harding entered the night with the second-best goals-against average in the NHL at 0.96. He stopped 20 of 21 shots before leaving. Backstrom said he is not quite at full strength yet, but that will have to do. "I thought he played great in this game, coming in in a tough situation," coach Mike Yeo said. Peters wasnt quite as strong, but he couldnt be blamed. "I dont know if the score is always the ... exact way how it went, but we didnt do enough to win," Hurricanes defenceman Justin Faulk said. NOTES: Ward stopped all five shots he faced. ... Yeo said he anticipated D Jonas Brodin being cleared to skate Friday, with a full mask to protect his broken right cheekbone. Brodin took a puck to the face in the previous game. ... The Wild gave up 28 shots, their third-highest total of the season, and were outshot at home for the first time in six games. ... The Wild are the only team in the league allowing an average of less than 1 goal per game in 5-on-5 play. They have given up five in 11 games this season. ' ' '

Manager Kirk Gibson said Trumbo will get a second opinion from Dr. Michael Lee in Arizona before a timetable for his return is determined. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed the injury after an X-ray showed no structural damage. The MRI also revealed some plantar fasciitis, which Trumbo had been dealing with since spring training. Trumbo wasnt sure how the stress fracture developed but thought he was overcompensating due to the plantar fasciitis. Trumbo is hitting .210, though he was tied for the National League lead with seven home runs and was second with 19 RBIs before Wednesdays game against thhe Chicago Cubs. NBA Jerseys For Sale. Youve got to earn a living and play. This was to the point where I severely had to compensate running-wise to the point where I probably wouldnt be much of an asset on either side." Trumbo suffered a stress fracture to his right foot at the end of the 2011 season and needed 5 1/2 months to heal. He does not expect to need as much recovery time with this injury. ' ' '
MIAMI - Three NFL players are named in a police report involving a woman who passed out in a hotel and later woke up in a hospital not knowing how she got there, though no one has been charged with a crime, authorities said Thursday. Schuhe Großhandel . San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and wide receiver Quinton Patton, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, were with the woman at a Miami hotel where Lockette lives, according to the Miami Police Department report. Police stressed that the report contained only unproven allegations at this point. "As far as whether there was a crime committed, its too early to say," said police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes. The account of the woman, who was not identified by police, is described in the report: The woman mixed drinks and gave the men shots, and the men told her "in order to drink the shots she had to hit the bong which contained marijuana." The four were watching a basketball game when the woman began feeling light-headed and went to lie down in a bedroom. Kaepernick came into the room, began kissing her and undressed her completely. The woman told police that they did not have sex, and that Kaepernick left the bedroom saying hed be right back. A few minutes later, the woman told police, the other two men "peeked" inside. She said to them, "What are you doing? Where is Colin? Get out." The report says the woman does not remember anything after that and later woke up in a hospital room with no memory of how she got there. The woman told police she has had a sexual relationship with Kaepernick in the past. Kaepernicks agent, Scott Smith, did not immediately respond to email and voice mail messages seeking comment. The 49ers and Seahawks issued statements saying they were aware of the incident but declined further comment. Kaepernick, 26, is one of the NFLs top quarterbacks, leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl after the 2012 season and the NFC championship game this past year. For his three-year career, Kaepernick has thrown for more than 5,000 yards and 31 touchdowns, and he has rushed for 937 yards and another nine touchdowns. Nike Air Max 97 Fake Kaufen . JOHNS, N.Sochi, Russia - Latvia has just one win at the Sochi Games. But somehow it is still alive to win a medal in the mens hockey tournament. After going winless in Group C play, Latvia advanced to the quarter-finals on Tuesday and exacted a measure of revenge against Switzerland, as Lauris Darzins scored twice to help eliminate the Swiss with a 3-1 upset win. Edgars Masalskis stopped 32-of-33 shots for Latvia, which will now play heavily-favoured Canada in Wednesdays quarter-finals. Swiss goaltender Jonas Hiller, who came into this game having not allowed a goal with two shutouts, including one over Latvia, surrendered two first-period goals and ended the game with 19 saves. Latvia scored 8:38 into the opening period when Oskars Bartulis sent what seemed to be an innocent shot on net from the right circle. Nike Air Max 95 Günstig. . Hiller, though, was badly screened in front and the puck sailed over his glove. Darzins then gave the Latvians a two-goal edge less than three minutes later with a power-play goal that found its way over the right shoulder of Hiller. It was the fourth power-play tally of the tournament for Latvia. The Swiss got on the board with just under five minutes remaining in the second when Martin Pluss took a feed from Reto Suri between the circles and sent a shot past the outstretched left leg of Masalskis Darzins, though, ended any chance of a comeback with an empty-netter with a minute left to play. CHAPEL HILL, N. Fake Vans Cheap .C. -- Marcus Paige and his North Carolina teammates have endured so many wild swings -- big wins, surprising losses, NCAA drama -- that no one can blame their Hall of Fame coach for wondering whats next. And yet, a month after sitting at 0-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Tar Heels are surging after a rousing comeback against their fiercest rival that had their fans rushing to midcourt to celebrate when it was over. Paige scored all 13 of his points in the second half, including two big baskets in the final 2 1/2 minutes, to help UNC beat No. 5 Duke 74-66 on Thursday night for their eighth straight win. Senior Leslie McDonald added a season-high 21 points for the Tar Heels (19-7, 9-4 ACC), who rallied from 11 points down in the second half to beat the Blue Devils (21-6, 10-4) in a rivalry game postponed more than a week by a winter storm. It was by far North Carolinas most impressive win during its run. Before Thursday, most had come against teams standing sixth or lower in the ACC standings. "Im not going to say were a finished product because weve got games left," Paige said, "but man, were playing really well right now and were winning games in a lot of different ways." It marked UNCs third win against a top-five team this season, along then-No. 1 Michigan State and then-No. 3 Louisville. Throw in then-No. 11 Kentucky in December, and the Tar Heels have beaten the top four teams from The Associated Press preseason Top 25. Not bad for a team that never had top player P.J. Hairston due to NCAA violations for improper benefits. "It was a bunch of guys that fought really hard," coach Roy Williams said, "and I couldnt be prouder of my team than I am right now." After filling the entire court after the horn, thousands of fans mobbed Franklin Street on the north end of campus to continue a celebration that came eight days later than they had hoped due to last weeks winter storm. The storm brought enough snow and ice to paralyze area roads and kept Dukes bus from even making it to Durham to pick up the team for the 11-mile drive to the Smith Center in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels made it worth the wait for their fans by being tough enough to wrestle control from the Blue Devils. They shot 50 per cent from the field after halftime and even made their last 10 free throws after a disastrous start at the line. Jabari Parker and Quinn Cook both scored 17 points for Duke, which led 51-40 with about 15 minutes left before going ice cold from the field. The Blue Devils missed 13 straight shots and went scoreless for 6 minutes at one point, helping the Tar Heels climb back in it by mixing a 1-3-1 zone with man defence. "They would just keep switching," Cook said. "Wed come down, and we wouldnt know what theyd be in. They kept us on our toes with their defence." Duke shot 36 per cent (11 for 31) after halftime and made 5 of 22 3-pointers for the game, Coach Mike Krzyzewski said he thought his team "played young" in the second half. "We looked tired or we didnt have life," Krzyzewski said. "And no matter what we did in a timeout, we just didnt have that spark -- the anger, the emotion, the thing you have to have to match what their crowd, their team is doing. You have to try to counter that. And I just felt we were, we didnt have the life that you needed to have." Paige provided plenty of that fight for the Tar Heels. After being hounded by Duke defenders Cook and Rasheed Sulaimon through his scoreless first half, he scored nine points in the final 5 1/2 minutes starting with his only 3-pointer of the night. McDonald hit the go-ahead jumper to make it 62-60 with 3:54 left, capping his own strong performance after two straight 1-for-8 shooting performances. Paige followed with a stepback jumper over Rodney Hood with 2:11 left, then answered Parkers free throws by driving for a scooping layup through the heart of Dukes defence. After Sulaimon missed a 3 on the ensuing possession, freshman Nate Britt followed with two free throws that pushed the lead to 68-62 with 46.2 seconds left and soon had the rowdy home crowd inching closer to the court. It marked the 11th time Paige has scored in double figures in the second half this season after scoring four or fewer in the first. The postponement created a four-games-in-eight-days stretch for both teams, though its particularly challenging for Duke with No. 1 Syracuse visiting Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday night in a rematch of the overtime classic won by the Orange earlier this month. Numbers Game looks at the deal that brings Lou Williams to the Raptors. The Raptors Get: SG Lou Williams and C Lucas Nogueira. Williams, 27, has been a productive scoring guard off the bench for much of his career, but he struggled last season, posting his worst Player Efficiency Rating (PER of 14.24) since his rookie season of 2005-2006. Williams shot 40.0% from the field, including 342% on threes, his worst in both categories since 2008-2009, so hes not exactly at peak value. Three times in his career, including in 2012-2013, Williams has averaged better than 14 points per game, yet hes come off the bench in 500 of his 554 career games. Hes a perimeter player who is taking fewer two-point shots. Last season, Williams took 4.3 twos per game, compared to 3.9 threes and his 3.0 free-throw attempts per game was his lowest since 2006-2007; these are signs of a player who isnt getting to the rim. Defensively, Williams is below average; a shooting guard in a point guards body, he doesnt have the physique to handle stronger guards, nor the height to deal with bigger guards. Williams does have quickness and can use that to his advantage but hes consistently rated as a subpar defender. Despite those limitations, Williams can be a useful second-team gunner and theres room for that in the Raptors rotation. Williams is going into the final year of a contract that pays him $5.45-million in 2014-2015. Taken with the 16th pick in last summers draft, Lucas Nogueira is a skinny 7-footer who, as might be expected, has potential as a shot blocker, but the Brazilian they call "Bebe" is considered raw, not unlike the Raptors first-round pick in this summers draft, Bruno Caboclo, who also happens to be Brazilian. Playing in Spain for Estudiantes last season, Nogueira put up 6. Fake Vans From China. points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in 16.0 minutes per game. He turns 22 this summer and could still use time to develop, but is a nice upside play for the Raptors. Nogueira has a contract with Estudiantes that runs through next season, so that will give him additional time to round out his game before worrying about how he might fit into the Raptors plans. The Hawks Get: SF John Salmons. Salmons is a 34-year-old swingman whose best days are well behind him. He hasnt shot 40% from the field in the past two seasons, and shot a career-low 36.3% from the field last season on his way to scoring 5.2 points per game, his fewest since 2004-2005. Hes showing the wear and tear of playing 874 career games. Salmons can still knock down a three, but hes no longer quick enough to get to the basket, nor is he quick enough to defend wings effectively. This could very well be the end of the line for Salmons. The value to the Hawks is that Salmons has a $7-million contract that only requires a $1-million buyout, leaving the Hawks with lots of room to maneuver as the NBA free agent market gets into full swing. Carmelo Anthony, Luol Deng and Lance Stephenson could be among the more appealing wings that the Hawks may try to lure with more than %15-million in salary cap space. This is a case where the Hawks got what they were after, increased cap space, and the Raptors got a few assets in return for providing it. Williams offers some immediate help, and is a trade chip with an expiring contract if the season goes awry, while Nogueira presents some upside for the long run. As it stands today, the Raptors are a better team for having made this trade. Scott Cullen can be reached at Scott.Cullen@bellmedia.ca and followed on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tsnscottcullen.
