NEW YORK, N. New Balance Shoes Sale Australia .Y. - The Baltimore Orioles earned a victory in court in their dispute with the Washington Nationals over annual broadcast payments. A New York Supreme Court judge on Monday granted an extension in the injunction preventing Major League Baseball from forcing the Orioles to pay the Nationals higher payments from their joint ownership in the network that televises the teams games. The Orioles own a controlling stake in MASN, which broadcasts Nationals games as a result of an agreement when the team moved from Montreal to Washington. The Nationals want higher annual rights payments, and the network isnt willing to pay the desired amount. On June 30, an MLB arbitration panel ruled the Orioles owed the Nationals an additional $20 million annually. The Orioles have questioned whether the panel was impartial and want the case decided in the courts. The injunction prevents the imposition of additional payment until the issue is resolved. EDINBURGH -- Meaghan Benfeito couldnt hide her disappointment. The Canadian diver had just made a critical mistake on her and partner Roseline Filions fourth attempt in the womens synchronized 10-metre platform final at the Commonwealth Games -- an error that left their medal hopes hanging in the balance. But instead of dwelling on the flubbed back 3 1/2 somersault, Benfeito gathered herself in hopes of still securing a top-three finish. "Theres still another dive left. I know how to do all my dives properly," said 25-year-old. "I think our last dive is our strongest one and I knew if we nailed it we could get on the podium." And nail it they did. Benfeito and Filion produced a textbook back 2 1/2 somersault with 1 1/2 twists to not only get on the podium Wednesday, but win a gold medal that seemed improbable just minutes earlier. "I wasnt expecting to come out of this with a gold," said Benfeito. "I knew that we were still in the hunt for a medal. Gold, I didnt think so, but our last dive is a strong dive and its the reason its our last dive. "We did it pretty well and were happy with the result." Montreals Benfeito and Filion, of Laval, Que., scored a total of 310.65 points, just ahead of Englands Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch with 307.92. Malaysias Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Nur Dhabitah Sabri took bronze with a score of 300.12. Benfeito and Filion were awarded 76.80 points on their final dive, but the 2012 Olympic bronze medallists could only wait for the leaders final attempts. When Barrow and Couch tallied just 70.08 on the same dive, the Canadians knew they had pulled out the tricky event that was delayed by 35 minutes due to a technical glitch that forced judges to display scores using flip cards. "It was tough for everyone," said Filion. "I knew it was going to be close, but I didnt expect to win at all." The 27-year-old has partnered with Benfeito for more than a decade and said they werent affected by the late start. "We were prepared for all these kinds of problems," said Filion. "Our team manager said in a meeting You never know whats going to happen. Be prepared, be ready. "We could wait the amount of time it took. We were there to compete and dive annd thats what we did. Nike Shoes Wholesale Australia. ." Wednesday marked the first of four competition days at the cosy Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, about a 75-kilometre drive from Glasgow. Later Wednesday, Lavals Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., won silver in the three-metre springboard with a score of 295.65. Englands Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree won gold, and Australias Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith took bronze. The 22-year-old Abel was a bronze medallist in three-metre synchro at the 2012 Olympics with former partner Emilie Heymans, and again at last years world championships with the 21-year-old Ware. Abel won gold in the one- and three-metre individual events -- as well as a silver with Heymans in the three-metre synchro -- at the Commonwealth Games four years ago in New Delhi. Benfeito and Filions come-from-behind victory capped an impressive season for the pair, who finished 2014 with a podium appearance in each of their eight international events. But even with a gold medal hanging around her neck, Benfeito was still kicking herself for her miss on the fourth attempt. "Its a dive that causes me a lot of problems, but its usually good in synchro," she said. "I am disappointed that I missed because we could have won by a lot more, but it happens. "Its in the past. Youve got to move on, youve got to do another really good dive and thats what we did." Benfeito and Filion won silver in 10-metre syncho at last years world championships, and will compete in the individual 10-metre event here as veterans on a young Canadian team that has seen a number of retirements in recent years, including Alexandre Despatie. "Its so weird because we used to be the babies on the team," said Filion. "Its interesting for me because I get to give a little bit of advice, when I used to get all the advice." Added Benfeito: "The transition has been really easy so I think that makes the team even stronger." What the young Canadian divers here in Scotland learned on Wednesday from their now-veteran teammates was simple. "Anything can happen and its definitely not over until the last dive," said Benfeito. "You have to give everything you can until the end." ' ' '
TSN football analyst Chris Schultz is back with his Division Semifinal selections in the CFL. Discount Vans Shoes Australia . The Big Man finished 55-26 on the season and is ready for playoff action. B.C. Lions at Montreal Alouettes At first glance, you dont think the BC Lions have much of a chance to win this Eastern Semifinal game. West to East, almost 5,000 kilometers of travel with a significant time change, a season-ending 33-16 loss at home to Calgary coming off being destroyed by Edmonton, 37-3. Thats not much momentum or confidence in the present to work with. A defensive team that rarely gave up touchdowns now has to regroup after allowing 70 points in the last two games. On the plus side, Stefan Logan back at running back makes a big difference. His performance against Calgary was excellent: 117 yard rushing, 70 yards receiving and 38 yards in punt returns. The secret weapon for BC is Marco Iannuzzi as a kick returner. He is due and if he can make one long field a short one, it could make all the difference in the game. For Montreal, you know they will rationalize the loss in Hamilton away saying as much as we lost to Hamilton, we beat ourselves. The concern for Montreal should be that they are the lowest scoring offence of any of the six playoff teams and yes, Jonathan Crompton manages the game, but in the playoffs, he has to be the reason they win one if BC jumps out in front early. The secret weapon for the Alouettes is Bear Woods at middle linebacker. Solomon Elimimian received well-deserved publicity as the leagues best middle linebacker, but Woods has been his equal in the second half of the season. These two teams match up very well and, given the fact it is playoff football, the regular season records do not mean as much as it is one game only. Who will win? Video leaves clues and the last two videos of the Lions should give Alouettes coach Jeff Garcia and associates a good idea on how to attack a good BC defence. Montreal , but it wont be easy . Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Eskimos The unknowns at quarterback are everything. Will Darian Durrant start for the Riders? Will Mike Reilly start for the Eskimos? One has an elbow problem and the other a foot problem and the truth is, we may not know until game time. Much like the B.C. Lions, the Riders have a heavyweight punchers chance. If they can run the football the way they did last Saturday, they can win. Amassing 172 yards in the first half represents line of scrimmage dominance but can it be duplicated to control the time of possession on Sunday in Edmonton? Because these teams have played each other so often, they hate each other. The key to this game is not so much who can hate who with greater intensity, it is much more who can stay under control as every negative moment is magnified in playoff football. The most obvious player that Edmonton has to use and Saskatchewan has to stop is Adarius Bowman, who has a catching radius that allows an inaccurate throw to become a magnificent gain. The secret weapon for the Eskimos is defensive end Willie Jefferson. Yes, Odell Willis is the public pass rusher of production, but every now and then, Jefferson at 66 does something that makes you go Oh my goodness. Both coaches are excellent but watch out for Chris Jones, Cory Chamblin. He is a sneaky risk taker and completely apathetic to consequences. Both teams will show up with playoff intensity but in the end... Edmonton wins. Vapormax 2019 Sale Australia . LOUIS -- The St.The Toronto Blue Jays appear to once again be eyeing Baltimore Orioles executive Dan Duquette. FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal tweeted Wednesday morning that the Jays and Orioles have discussed a compensation package that might allow the Orioles Executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations to become the Blue Jays new CEO. Reports initially surfaced in December that the Blue Jays were looking to replace current Chief Executive Paul Beeston with Duquettes name - as well as that of Chicago White Sox Executive VP Kenny Williams - floated as possible successors. Duquette - who also serves as the Orioles GM - remains under contract until 2018. Despite the fact that becoming the Jays CEO would present an upward move in title, the Orioles want some form of package to enable their divisional rivals to hire a key member of their front office. Rosenthal added that while talks between the two teams were not close, they did indicate that Baltimoree was open to his departure. Nike Shoes Wholesale Australia. He added that some O’s people want him to go, and that it was an uncomfortable situation for the team. Duquette has been GM of the Orioles since the end of the 2011 season and has guided the team from a fifth-place finish in 2011 to playoff berths in two of the past three seasons, including the 2014 American League East title. Previously Duquette served as an executive for the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Expos. As Director of Player Development and later GM of the Expos he brought many of the talents to Montreal that shone in the strike-shortened 1994 MLB season. He was Director when the team drafted Vladimir Guerrero and as GM engineered the deal that brought Hall-of-Famer Pedro Martinez to the Expos from the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was responsible for bringing talents like Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon to the Red Sox in the years leading up to their 2004 World Series victory. ' ' '
VANCOUVER - Theyll share the sidelines at B. Air Max 2006 Sale .C. Place as opponents Sunday, but Grey Cup head coaches Kent Austin and John Hufnagel have a CFL history together.Austin began his CFL career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1987, when Hufnagel was a player-coach with the club. Austin went on to play 10 seasons with the Riders, B.C. Lions, Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, winning two Grey Cups (89 with Riders, 94 with Lions) and passing for over 36,000 yards. But on Wednesday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach and general manager credited Hufnagel, the head coach/GM of the Calgary Stampeders, with helping him make a seamless transition to the three-down game following his collegiate career at Ole Miss.Ive got a lot of respect for John, Austin said. It (Canadian football) was a different game, a totally different game than what I was comfortable with and used to.Having somebody like John to kind of cut the corners, to give you the shortcuts that you needed to at least have a chance to be successful early on instead of going through huge growing pains with a guy that didnt have a lot of experience playing the position, was a huge benefit. And it was clear Wednesday that Austin still holds Hufnagel in high regard, allowing the Calgary coach to answer questions first and often agreeing with his counterpart.Hufnagel, 63, remembers a young Austin taking advantage of his chance to play after injuries to other quarterbacks, including Hufnagel. My first year as a coach, I was a player-coach, and that player part of it only lasted three quarters then I tore my Achilles tendon, he said. We had two young quarterbacks at the time, Jeff Bentrim and Tom Burgess, (but) they were injured.I brought Jeff Tedford up (but) he lasted four plays and broke his foot. And in that timeframe, Kent walks in, and prepares himself to play and his first start was against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Hamilton. He won his first start, had a terrific football game.Hufnagel and Austin followed similar paths to their current positions. Both played at major U.S. colleges (Hufnagel starred at Penn State) and spent time in the NFL before coming to Canada. After winning Grey Cups as players, Hufnagel and Austin began their coaching careers in the CFL, then headed to the U.S. before returning north of the border to head up their respective franchises football operations departments. After serving as an assistant with Saskatchewan (88) and Calgary (90-96), Hufnagel took over as head coach/GM of the Arena Football Leagues New Jersey Red Dogs. He had stints in the NFL as quarterbacks coach with Cleveland, Indianapolis, Jacksonville and New England and offensive co-ordinator with the New York Giants before returning to the Stampeders.During his time in the NFL, Hufnagel had the opportunity to coach big-name quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning as well as Tom Brady, earning a Super Bowl ring with New England in 2003.Hufnagel said he didnt have a burning desire to leave the CFL when he left for New Jersey. But after being bypassed for three head-coaching positions while an assistant with Calgary, Hufnagel said he wasnt about to let the next opportunity pass him by.Once all the smoke cleared (in 95) I was still an assistant coach with the Calgary Stampeders, which was fine, Hufnagel said. But I did say that — to myself — the next time the phone rings and a head coaching job is offered, I would accept it, no matter what the time of year. And happened to be the New Jersey Red Dogs . . . and thats why I left the CFL, to take advantage of a head coaching job.Austin finished his playing career after the 96 season with Winnipeg. He joined the Ottawa Renegades quarterbacks coach in 03 before becoming Torontos offensive co-ordinator. He was hired as Saskatchewans head coach in 07. After winning a Grey Cup he returned to Ole Miss as the offensive co-ordinator and then spent three seasons as Cornells head coach before returning north with Hamilton in 2013.Austin and Hufnagel are the only ones in the CFL with the dual coach/GM titles, with Austin also being Hamiltons director of football operations.Im not sure its an advantage, its a little bit more single-minded as far as the direction you want to take, Hufnagel said. And everybody thats working for you has that single direction. Its a lot easier to get things you want as far as the grocery list. And so I enjoy it. Its a unique position, and I relish the job that I have in Calgary.Austin agreed.I would just reiterate what John said, he said. I mean, it gives you the ability to choose your team and to piece the puzzle together the way that you and your staff believe is the best....At the end of the day, if you can make the decision to build your team, then the buck really falls with us to put together a team that has a chance.Hufnagel has certainly put Calgary in position to win since his return, amassing an impressive 89-36-1 regular-season record. But some football pundits point to Calgarys 6-5 playoff record and just one Grey Cup title over that span. Twenty-five players remain from the Stampeders squad that lost the 100th Grey Cup game to Toronto in 2012 and Hufnagel said those individuals have a chance Sunday to end the negative talk.Theres been a lot of things said about this group of players over the years, he said. Until they do something about it, its going to keep on being said.I dont judge myself, thats what you guys (reporters) do. I just go to work every day and try to do the best job I can. We have a pretty good regular-season record and were batting one game over 500 in the playoffs. Im not so sure theres a whole lot of teams over the last seven years that can say that.Austin is appearing in a third straight Grey Cup as a head coach, winning in 07 with Saskatchewan before losing last years finale to the Riders at Mosaic Stadium. The truth of the matter is you have to have many great people around you, Austin said. Ive been really fortunate to have the ability to have a great staff, first and foremost, have a great organization in both cases that produced an environment to allow us to be successful.Hufnagel said the first coaches to make a favourable impression upon him as a player were the late Joe Paterno at Penn State and Cal Murphy, the longtime Winnipeg head coach/GM who died in 2012. Once he became a coach, Hufnagel credits New England coach Bill Belichik and B.C. Lions GM Wally Buono, Hufnagels head coach in Calgary, as the ones whove influenced him the most.Cal was a tremendous football coach, Hufnagel said. I really respected how he handled the day-to-day functions of the team and how he handled the players.Having one year with (Belichik) was a bonus as far as me developing into a head coach because of the structure that he brings to a football team. Wally, well, I based most of my organization and how we do things from Wallys program. Those three have had a big impact on whatever Ive accomplished in coaching. In the meantime, Weaver earned his AL-leading 18th victory when the AL West champion Los Angeles Angels beat the Texas Rangers 8-5 on Saturday night. "Its the time of the year where everybody wants to extend their season, and were lucky enough to be able to be a part of that," Weaver said. "Its exciting for sure, but you try not to look too far ahead because weve still got some games to play. "I know from previous playoffs that its all about the team with the momentum. So we cant take these games for granted right now. Weve still got to go out there and produce and get some momentum going." Weaver is 11-2 in his last 18 starts and will make one more regular-season appearance before starting Game 1 of the AL division series next Thursday in his first post-season start since Game 3 of the 2009 ALCS. "I think that having some post-season experience is a plus," he said. "Its obviously been a long time for me, but Im sure Ill feel like Im 23 because of all the adrenaline and stuff. You just try to stay within yourself as much as possible and try to keep your team in the game -- just like you do during the season -- and hopefully the offence takes care of the rest." Albert Pujols reached the 100-RBI mark with a two-run homer and Mike Trout also hit a two-run shot, helping the Angels maintain their 2 1/2 game lead over Baltimore in the race for the best record in the majors. David Freese added a three-run homer in support of Weaver (18-8), who was charged with three runs and five hits in seven-plus innings. Huston Street pitched a perfect ninth for his career-high 39th save and 15th with the Angels. Colby Lewis (10-14) gave up eight runs -- seven earned -- and nine hits in five innings. The Rangers season-best seven-game winning streak came to a resounding end despite Adrian Beltres three doubles, which equaled a career high. Lewis is 0-4 with a whopping 11.51 ERA in his last four starts against the Angels. "I expected to perform a lot better than I did tonight -- plain and simple," he said. Pujols drove Lewis 1-2 delivery off the rock pile in left-centre for his 519th homer, putting him within two of tying Ted Williams, Willie McCovey and newly inducted Hall of Famer Frank Thomas for 18th place on the career list. "I dont play for numbers, guys," Pujols said. "My goal is to help this organization win. And a lot of guys have been getting on base in front of me and giving me the opportunity to drive them in." Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar followed Pujols homer with singles, and Freese capped the five-run rally with his 10th homer, one more than he had last season in 138 games with St. Louis. The 2011 World Series MVP has 13 RBIs in his last 12 games. HALOS HARDWARE Garrett Richards was named the winner of the Nick Adenhart Award as the Angels top pitcher. Too many on Clint Dempsey, says U.S. coach Juergen Klinsmann. But the league decided that Dempsey was the trouble-maker not the victim when it suspended the Seattle Sounders star striker two games Friday for "violent conduct" against Toronto FC defender Mark Bloom. The incident happened off the ball in the 40th minute of Torontos 2-1 win in Seattle last Saturday. Dempsey swung an arm and caught Bloom in the groin. The U.S. international was also fined an undisclosed amount. Klinsmann stepped in after the game, saying MLS has to offer key players like Dempsey more protection. "Obviously we are a little bit worried about Clint Dempsey getting fouled I dont know how many times in this game against Toronto," he said in a U.S. Soccer video. Toronto committed 25 fouls compared to 15 for Seattle. "Im hoping MLS is having an eye on that ... What I saw there on the weekend there were certain things not within the rules any more," Klinsmann added. "So I hope that our players in a certain way get a little bit of protection because they need to be healthy going into this World Cup." Seattle was also the victim of 25 fouls in its season-opening win over Sporting Kansas City. Asked about the Klinsmann comments on protecting stars, Toronto FC manager Ryan Nelsen stuck his tongue firmly in his cheek. "I 100 per cent agree with him," he said. "Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley and Gilberto should be left alone, they shouldnt be allowed to tackle them." "I think theres a hidden agenda with Juergens comments," he added. Bradley, a veteran U.S. international whose father Bob Bradley used to coach the American national team, also downplayed the issue. "Its a physical league for sure but when youu look around the world, all the best games are physical," he said. Elvis Grbac Jersey. "Theyre hard, Teams compete at the highest level. For us, when we look back at last weekend, we feel like we played hard, we competed hard, we left everything we had on the field but in an honest, fair way. "And so I think, after the fact, for people to look and to start to talk about a play here, a play there, lets be honest, theres little plays like this that go in every game. And still when you look back at 90 minutes, I think the way that we were able to get after Seattle and make the game hard on them and really win the physical battles was something we want to take forward into this game (Saturday against D.C, United) as well." Seattle coach Sigi Schmid didnt offer much on the suspension in an interview posted on the club website. "It is what it is so we have to deal with it," he said. Dempsey is eligible to return for an April 5 road game in Portland. The MLS disciplinary committee also suspended Chicago Fire defender Lovel Palmer for two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for violent conduct toward Portland Timbers forward Maximiliano Urruti last weekend. Both Dempsey and Palmer submitted appeals that were turned down. Montreal Impact midfielder Justin Mapp was also fined an undisclosed amount for simulation in a game against the Houston Dynamo. New York Red Bulls defender Armando was banned one game and fined an undisclosed amount for serious foul play against Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown. Prior to the start of the season, the leagues board of governors approved a policy stating that any player receiving a red card for violent conduct or adjudged unanimously by the discipline committee to be an unequivocal red card for violent conduct will be automatically suspended for at least two games and be fined. Modern technology gave him a different problem. "I ran out of my phone minutes on my AT&T calling plan for the first time," Carey said in a phone interview, after getting some more minutes. "Its been a little overwhelming at times, but its been fun. Its kind of a good problem to have." A handful of teams showed interest in Carey before the Phoenix Coyotes signed the Hamilton native to a one-year entry-level contract Wednesday. The 23-year-old St. Lawrence University forward was so sought-after because hes again a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top NCAA mens hockey player. Carey, who led the NCAA with 39 assists and was second with 58 points in 38 games, picked the Coyotes because he believes they offer a good chance to make an impact on offence. "Ive kind of prided myself in my college career in my ability to contribute offensively to kind of put pucks in the back of the net and create plays and make chances," Carey said. "Theyre kind of happy with my style of play and excited to have me to add my little offensive flare to their system." The Coyotes, a middle-of-the-pack offensive team this season, dealt young forward prospect Chris Brown to the Washington Capitals in a trade that got them veteran Martin Erat. Carey is set to report to the same Portland Pirates AHL team that Brown had 35 points for this season. Carey would obviously love to be able to play for the soon-to-be-renamed Arizona Coyotes next season but said hell do "whatever I need to do" there or in Portland. Assistant general manager Brad Treliving told the team website that Carey has been a point-producer and goal-scorer at every level but also that its a big step into the world of pro hockey. Signing a one-year contract also makes 2014-15 a big risk-reward season for Carey, who wasnt drafted out of minor midget and played tier-2 junior A hockey with the Burlington Cougars before going to St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. "You get a year to come in and prove yourself and kind of show what youve got and kind of put everything on the line," Carey said. "Its a terrific opportunity for college players after were done. ... Its a challenge that you kind of look forward to." Carey looks forward to brother Matt joining him, if the St. Lawrence junior forward opts to make that move. Nothing was done on that front by mid-day Thursday to make sure Greg and Matt would continue to be teammates. "Hes dealing with his advisers and looking for what the best fit is for him," Greg Carey said. "I loved playing with him in college. Its all opportunity and I know hes looking for his best opportunity. And well see what happens here with him." Cory Joseph Jersey . Nadal sent a backhand long, giving an opening set that featured no break points to Kukushkin, who had won only seven games in two previous matches against Nadal. The man from Kazakhstan erased the matchs first break point in the fourth game of the second set, but a long forehand gave Nadal a second break chance and he converted with a strong return on a second serve to go up 3-1. LONDON -- Arsenal stayed top of the Premier League after scoring two late goals in a 2-0 win over Cardiff while fellow title rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool also started the year with victories on Wednesday. However, the league trophy looks more out of reach than ever for Manchester United after the reigning champions lost 2-1 at home to Tottenham and fell 11 points behind Arsenal. Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott scored Arsenals goals at Emirates Stadium to beat a resilient Cardiff team which played in front of expected new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and frustrated the hosts for 88 minutes in the driving rain. "We have a special spirit in the side and you know well fight until the last minute in the game," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. City remained a point behind in second after a 3-2 win at Swansea, while Chelseas 3-0 victory at Southampton in awful weather conditions ensured Jose Mourinhos team stayed in third place, two points behind the leaders. After two consecutive losses, Liverpool climbed back into the top four after Luis Suarez scored his 20th goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Hull. Spurs climbed above United into sixth place -- two points behind Liverpool -- after goals by Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen earned them a second straight league win at Old Trafford. United has now lost four times at home this season. "The margin of error has been slim for a long time," United manager David Moyes said of his teams title hopes. Arsenal had to wait until two minutes from time before Bendtner gave the Gunners reasons to celebrate the start of a new year when he pounced from a rebound. The striker picked up an ankle injury while scoring and was substituted before Walcott chipped the ball over goalkeeper David Marshall. "He was a bit unlucky, he said he landed on the foot of a Cardiff player and sprained his ankle," Wenger said. "It looks like it is not a question of days, but weeks." In other games, Everton fell to fifth by being held 1-1 draw by Stoke, Aston Villa beat last-place Sunderland 1-0, Fulham earned a comeback 2-1 win over West Ham to climb out of the relegation zone, Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Norwich and West Bromwich Albion beat Newcastle 1-0. Man City carried its recent form into 2014 and recorded the first goal of the year after 14 minutes when Fernandinho gave Manuel Pellegrinis team the lead at Liberty Stadium. Wilfried Bony put the hosts back in the game with a header but City was more cliinical after the interval and pulled away with goals from Yaya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov before Bony pulled another one back. Air Force 1 Alte Marble Pack. Fernando Torres helped Chelsea to a 3-0 victory over Southampton as the Blues kept pace with their rivals. The Spain striker broke the deadlock on the hour mark, heading home a deflected cross from close range. Chelseas substitutes then combined to deliver the second, with Oscar cutting in from the left to set up Willian for a powerful shot from the edge of the area in the 71st minute. Oscar then put the result beyond doubt with a clinical finish in the 82nd minute after Eden Hazard and Ramires linked up to put the Brazilian through. Suarez set a Premier League record when he scored his 20th Premier League goal in just 15 games after missing five matches with a suspension. He doubled the Reds lead in the 50th minute with a perfect free kick curled into the top left corner after Daniel Agger had headed home Philippe Coutinhos corner to make it 1-0 in the 36th. "It was our best win of the season," said Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. "After a tough period, to get a result like that against a very good team." Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard made his return off the bench to play his first game since picking up a hamstring injury in early December. The other Liverpool club, Everton, had a less enjoyable day. Leighton Baines converted an injury-time penalty, cancelling out Oussama Assaidis goal for Stoke, to earn his side a draw that could not prevent it from slipping to fifth. United has now dropped 26 points, one more than it did in the whole of the teams title-winning campaign last season. Danny Welbecks fifth goal in five games, which made it 2-1 after 67 minutes, was the only bright spot on a miserable evening for United, whose four-match winning run in the league came to an end. Aston Villa ended its five-match winless run by beating Sunderland and goals from Steve Sidwell and Dimitar Berbatov helped Fulham defeat 10-man West Ham. Saido Berahino converted an 87th-minute penalty to secure the win for West Brom, overshadowing the return of Nicolas Anelka after his controversial goal celebration. Newcastle looked like holding on for a draw despite the 62nd-minute sending-off of defender Mathieu Debuchy for a two-footed tackle on Claudio Yacob. Anelka started despite being the subject of a league investigation for celebrating a goal against West Ham on Saturday with a gesture that has anti-Semitic connotations. ' ' '

Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Taj Smith did not travel with the team to Winnipeg, where the club is preparing to face the Blue Bombers on Thursday. Ernie Banks Jersey . Vonn spoke with The Associated Press on Friday after three early super-G training runs. This was her first big test since she crashed during training at Copper Mountain last week and partially tore a reconstructed ligament in her right knee. "Definitely, Im encouraged," she said. "Its looking a lot better than everyone expected. Things are going well." Wearing a brightly colored jacket over her speed suit, the reigning Olympic downhill champion took an easy opening run through the course on a crisp morning. On her second pass, Vonn got a little more aggressive, picking up more speed as she glided down the hill. For her third and final run, she opened it up even more to see how her knee responded. "So far, so good," she said after her workout. So much so she remains hopeful she might race in Alberta next week. Asked about her readiness for Lake Louise, Vonn said: "Im not sure yet. As it looks right now, yeah." She concedes theres plenty more work to do to get into shape. "Im taking it day by day. Im not pushing it that hard yet," Vonn said. Why not come back in January to give her surgically repaired knee more time to heal? "Because I want to start in Lake Louise," Vonn said of a course she dominates so much its known as "Lake Lindsey." She laughed as she unbuckled her ski boots and stuffed them into her car. "Im just going to progress every day until Lake Louise," Vonn said. Vonn spent Thanksgiving Day squeezing in a little free skiing, posting on her Facebook page: "First day back on snow since my crash and it was awesome!" She also attached a picture of herself -- grinning -- on an empty slope in Vail. This, however, was a bigger step. The 29-year-old Vonn is not planning to attend the season-opening World Cup downhill on the new Beaver Creek course on Friday because "its too hard on me." Vonn had her sights set on returning for this race after tearing ligaments in her right knee during a high-speed accident at the world championships in February. UNIONDALE, N. Josh Hart Jersey .Y. -- The New York Islanders won the game. And then, they didnt. And theyre still trying to figure out why. Kevin Shattenkirk and Alexander Steen scored in the shootout to give the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 win over the Islanders on Saturday following a puzzling goal reversal call in overtime. After T.J. Oshie tied it for the Blues with 27 seconds left in regulation, Thomas Vanek appeared to score the winner for the Islanders on the power play with 1:15 left in overtime -- but the play was overturned on review at the NHL offices in Toronto. The puck hit Vaneks skate blade and dribbled past Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak, but a distinct kicking motion that usually negates goals wasnt apparent. "I thought it was a terrible call," Vanek said. "I think we all know what a kicking motion is. My skate never elevated, it was on the ice the whole time. I dont know if its because who we are. I think if thats Pittsburgh or some of those top teams, its maybe a goal. "For that to be overturned is just too bad." Islanders coach Jack Capuano wouldnt be drawn into the controversy -- but knew what he saw. "The referees made the right call on the ice," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "Then they must have seen something in Toronto that was conclusive." Added Blues coach Ken Hitchcock: "They arent going to make a mistake when it goes to Toronto." The Islanders had an early 2-0 lead for the second straight game. And again, they found themselves tied and in a battle. The Islanders (21-25-8) have led by two or more goals 15 times in 54 games this season -- and are 6-4-5 in those contests. Matt Martin put the Islanders ahead 3-2 midway through the second period. The home team was almost able to withstand the Blues relentless pressure in the games closing minutes. Earlier in the period, Oshies shot hit both posts but didnt cross the goal line behind Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin. Vanek and Kyle Okposo scored in the first for the Islanders, who lost for the fifth time in 15 games. Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice for the Blues. Poulin made a number of acrobatic saves for New York, with his best being a point-blank pad save on Blues leading scorer Steen midway through the second. He also denied Steen and Oshie during a power play midway through the third. But the Blues (35-11-5) wouldnt quit, leaving Hitchcock pleased. "This was good, gritty road win," he said. "I like the way the team played in the third period." Vanek opened the scoring at 4:01 of the first, slapping the puck by Halak for his 19th of the season. Vanek has points in 17 of his last 19 games with nine goals and 16 assists during the stretch. The 30-year-old left wing was acquired from Buffalo on Oct. 27 for Matt Moulson and two high draft picks. The line of Vanek, John Tavares and Kyle Okposo was at it again at 15:11 when Okposo jammed the puck past Halak for his 22nd goal of the year. Fans at Nassau Coliseum also chanted "U-S-A! U-S-A!" for Okposo, who wasnt picked for the U.S. team for the Winter Games next month in Russia even though hes having a breakout season. Okposo already has a career-high 54 points. Tarasenko cut the margin in half at 17:17 of the first, beating Poulin high from about 30 feet out. The 22-year-old right wing scored again at 1:17 of the second, his 17th goal this season. He hit the left post late in second and had a golden chance midway through the third when his rebound shot appeared to hit both posts without going into the net. The Blues won the previous meeting this season, 5-1 at the Scottrade Center on Dec. 5. They were completing visits to all three local teams. They defeated the Rangers 2-1 on Thursday after losing 7-1 in Newark to the Devils. "This a great way to end the trip with a bonus point," Oshie said. OAKLAND, Calif. Shawn Kemp Jersey . - The Toronto Blue Jays still arent scoring much on the road, and an overall three-week funk has dropped the former division leaders 1 1-2 games out of first place in the AL East. Even normally reliable Mark Buehrle is struggling, not having won a start since June 1. That isnt even the worst news for manager John Gibbons ballclub. Edwin Encarnacion had to leave the game after hearing "a pop" in his right leg while legging out an infield grounder in the first inning of the Blue Jays 5-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night. The Toronto slugger, who went into the night tied for second in the majors with 26 home runs, will undergo an MRI in the next day or two. "I wouldnt guess itd be a quick thing," Gibbons said. "He said he felt something pop in his quad. Thats all I know right now. Id be very surprised if he went on the DL but I dont know that for sure yet." As tough as losing their top offensive threat was, the Blue Jays seemed even more irked about a play in the eighth inning that they felt should have been overturned by replay. With Oakland leading 3-1, Melky Cabrera was thrown out trying to score from first base on a double to left by Jose Bautista. Oakland left fielder Craig Gentry retrieved the ball and shortstop Jed Lowrie made a strong relay throw home to catcher Derek Norris, who appeared to tag a sliding Cabrera on the back. Home plate umpire Bill Miller called Cabrera out, and after a brief review, the call was upheld. "He missed him by a good foot or two," Bautista said. "I dont really know which replay they were looking @ but clearly they must have had a different video feed than the one we had. This whole replay thing has become a joke in my eyes. I think they should just ban it. They should just get rid of it." Bautista vented his anger over the call for nearly five minutes, almost entirely unprompted. "I dont know what kind of agenda the people that are doing the replays are on, what their plan is ... but obviously getting the right call on the field is not what theyre doing. I dont see the point in having this replay system that doesnt work," he said. Gibbons tempered his frustration over the call. "The bottom line is we played a crappy game tonight," he said. "Theres no way around that." Encarnacion drove in Torontos only run in the first inning before getting hurt. He beat out a possible double play ball, allowing Jose Reyes to score. Encarnacion stepped on the first base bag, limped for a few steps and then tumbled to the ground. Buehrle (10-6) gave up three runs and 10 hits over six innings. Buehrle walked one and struck out three. He had a four-game winning streak against the As end. Josh Donaldson hit a home run and Scott Kazmir (10-3) won for the fifth time in his last six decisions. He walked two and struck out eight, improving to 6-1 in eight home starts. Kazmir retired 20 of 23 hitters after giving up singles to Reyes and Cabrera to start the game. NEW YORK -- With Derek Stepan recovering from surgery and Dan Carcillo suspended, the New York Rangers got some good news Saturday with word that Derick Brassard is healthy for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final with Montreal. The Rangers centre left early in Game 1 with an upper body injury after being checked by Canadiens defenceman Mike Weaver and has not played since. Brassard told reporters after practice that he was good to go. That brought a smile to the face of Rangers coach Alain Vigneault. "I was told he cleared himself," Vigneault said with a laugh. "Thats good to know. He didnt tell me." As for Stepan, Vigneault says he was in hospital recovering from surgery to repair a broken jaw. "I heard a lot about him before but I dont have one bad thing to say about him." The New York players, for the most part, had little to say about the length of the ban to Prust, a former Ranger. But goalie Henrik Lundqvist said that hot spots in the playoffs usually cool down in the off-season. "Especially during the playoffs, you dont see your opponents as friends, even though youve played with them. Right now I dont have any friends in Montreal," the stylish Swede said with a chuckle. "Theyre just enemies and you play it that way. Thats your approach. "But you also have to understand this game, you know, theres a lot of players that play on the edge. Thats their role, thats what they do. Theyre always going to play it like that and sometimes things happen and maybe they take it a little too far. As it comes to relationships, as friends, in the summertime you move past it. "But right now, do I like what happened? Absolutely not. But its on the ice, it happens on the ice. It is what it is." The Habs made one lineup change, with Thomas Vanek moving to the third line and taking Dale Weises spot, who moves down to the fourth line. Game 4 is Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers lead the series two games to one. ' ' '
DALY CITY, Calif. Air Max 270 React Rose Pas Cher . -- Stacy Lewis noted that she was 29 and playing partner Lydia Ko was 17 when talking about their contrasting approaches to a storm delay Friday in the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. "I think you try to stay patient during the delay more than anything, and try to stay loose," Lewis said. "I didnt sit down too much. Tried to stay up." Ko did the opposite. "I sat down, had some chicken soup, played some cards," Ko said. "I was totally relaxed." But she was careful to avoid hot chocolate. "I had a cup of hot chocolate before during a delay and next hole I hit it out of bounds," Ko said. "My mom brought me a cup and I was like, Oh, that better not be hot chocolate." Lewis overcame rain and hail to take the second-round lead, shooting her second straight 3-under 69 at Lake Merced. Winless since the Womens British Open in August, the third-ranked Lewis had a one-stroke lead over Ko and first-round leader Karine Icher. "We all went into the day knowing it would play hard," said Lewis, who has five runner-up finishes since her victory at St. Andrews. ""It was a test of patience. I took it one shot at a time and wanted to get the ball into the hole as fast as I could. Fortunately, I was able to do that." Ko had a 71, and Icher followed her opening 66 with a 73. Lewis and Ko played alongside Michelle Wie, dealing with heavy rain and hail that suspended play for just over an hour. Play resumed in steady drizzle that gave way to sunny afternoon conditions that helped several of the late starters. Wie, the winner last week in Hawaii, was even par after her second 72. The weather wavered between a slight mist and light shower before pounding the course just after noon, forcing the suspension at 12:36 p.m. "I honestly thought wed get it done," Lewis said. "Then we got to seven and it just poured. We had to call off Lydia from her putt when it started to hail." Ko, who turned 17 on Thursday and was named among TIME magazines 100 most influential people, thought she could get her putt in before being called off. "I was crazy and out of my mind thinking about putting in the hail," Ko said. "It started getting dark and Im glad I was called off." Ko returned to the course and made the putt. Icher was tied for the lead with Lewis at 5 under when the horn sounded. "I ate a little and dried my clothes," Icher said. "Rain delays are never fun but it happens. Being in the top five to start the tournament is pretty good, definitely my best start this year." Top-ranked Inbee Park, Mika Miyazato and Ilhee Lee were three strokes back at 3 under. Park had a 68 in the afternoon, Miyazato shot 69, and Lee had a 73. "It was a very good putting day and I hit a lot of fairways," Park said. "I got a little lucky with the weather. I only had to play in the rain for four holes." Miyazato finished before the delay. "The golf course was more challenging," Miyazato said. "I needed better course management." Second-ranked Suzann Pettersen, returning from a since back injury that sidelined her for three tournaments, was 2 under after a 72. Air Max 270 Se Reflective Off Noir . "The negative is we gave up the two. We just have to clean up some of the mistakes we made out there. I was happy how we played in the third period as far as 5-on-5 play to score those separation goals and put it away." Miami of Ohios Riley Barber, Boston Universitys Dan ORegan and New Jersey Devils prospect Stefan Matteau also scored for the Americans (2-0-0). Matteau, the son of former NHL player Stephane Matteau, plays for the Devils Albany affiliate in the American Hockey League. "We dont have that one player whos going to go out and score four goals," said Hartman, the West Dundee, Ill., forward who plays for the Plymouth Whalers in Ontario Hockey League. "We have a well-rounded team and everyone is contributing." The Americans opened the tournament with a 5-1 victory over the Czech Republic on Thursday. The U.S. will play Germany (0-2-0) on Sunday, and finish group play Tuesday against Canada (1-0-1). The United States took a 2-0 lead in the first period. The coach was downtown at the Clippers team offices Friday, meeting with an angry roomful of ticket-sellers and marketers still outraged by owner Donald Sterlings racist comments. "Ill say this much: Our players thought about not working. So did our employees, and they still felt that way," Rivers said. "They needed somebody to ask them to continue to work and support us. Were still trying to put this thing together." For both the Clippers and the Golden State Warriors, basketball has been secondary for much of this extraordinary series. But after the most tumultuous week in Clippers history, the first round is finally down to its grand finale. The Clippers will host a seventh game for the first time in franchise history on Saturday night, hoping to draw energy from their Staples Center crowd for a cathartic victory. The winner gets a second-round date with Oklahoma City or Memphis. "Weve got to protect home court," Clippers centre DeAndre Jordan said Friday. "Our season is tomorrow." The Warriors have been just one obstacle faced by the Clippers, who endured sleepless nights and immense scrutiny while their owner was exposed and subsequently banned for life from the NBA between playoff games. Los Angeles has lost two of three games since the Sterling saga began, playing lifelessly in Game 4 before struggling along with the Warriors in Game 6 on Thursday night. When the Clippers went back to work Friday, Sterling-related memorabilia had been removed from the trophy case in the hallway at their palatial $60 million training complex built by Sterling six years ago. Even the "Sterling Drive" sign outside the Playa Vista facility had been taken down. The Clippers missed their chance to wrap the series in Oakland, but the Pacific Division champions played all year for the chance to finish a series on their home court. "Its going to be tough, and youre going to face adversity, and we clearly have faced adversity in this round," said Blake& Griffin, who managed just 17 points on 8-for-24 shooting in Game 6. Rasmus Dahlin Jersey. "I think its just important that we all stayed the course and had positive thoughts about it. It is a Game 7, but its still a playoff game. It doesnt change a whole lot." Neither team plans to spend much time working on tactics or adjustments after six games of seeing everything their opponent has to offer. Both teams arent saying much about various nagging injuries, from Chris Pauls strained left hamstring for the Clippers to Jermaine ONeals sprained right knee for Golden State. Instead, two relatively inexperienced playoff teams are eager to show off everything theyve learned about perseverance and toughness over the past two weeks, culminating in a rare winner-take-all finish to their series. "Im not sure that both teams love each other, but Im pretty positive that both teams have tremendous respect for each other," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. The Clippers core played a Game 7 two years ago, beating Memphis on the road for just their second playoff series victory since Sterling bought the team in 1981. Jordan and Griffin said there was little to draw from that victory, with Jordan barely remembering it. The Warriors havent played a Game 7 since 1977, no surprise for a franchise with just three playoff berths in the last 20 years. When asked if an injury could keep him out of Game 7, Paul scoffed. "Ill be there," Paul said. "Seven-thirty, that balls throwed up, Ill be there. Cant wait." Even with the Clippers on the front page during this series, Golden State has plenty of its own internal drama. Jackson could be coaching his final game for the Warriors after the club ownerships reluctance to publicly back his return despite the most successful two-year stretch in two decades. "I think weve had more controversy than them throughout this whole season that gets overlooked, kind of thrown under the rug a little bit," Golden States Andre Iguodala said. "Weve had some battles this year weve had to deal with, but its kept us together and made us stronger." ' ' '

The media conglomerates controlling shareholder is Pierre Karl Peladeau, a member of the legislature for the Opposition Parti Quebecois.Later in the day, Premier Philippe Couillard responded by saying Quebec taxpayers will not be on the hook for getting a team in Quebec City.Any government involvement could be controversial given that Couillards government is in serious cost-cutting mode as it aims to return to a balanced budget. As a Quebecer, I would like to see a team (in Quebec City) one day, the premier said. But its not true that taxpayers, with public finances as they are, will be up for that.Jean Charests former Liberal government invested $200 million a€” or half the costs a€” in the construction of the new arena in Quebec City.Hamad said public finances would have to be healthy for the government to get involved. If theres an opportuniity that the government believes is good for Quebecers, why not. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Bianche. One of Hamads cabinet colleagues was more reserved when asked about the possibility of the government getting involved financially.Economic Development Minister Jacques Daoust said such support is usually made available when a transaction is too risky for financial markets. So, lets ask ourselves a question in case we ever have to answer it, Daoust said. Is it the states role to intervene to buy a hockey team in a situation that is too risky for traditional (financial) markets? Ill stop right there.Daoust insisted he wasnt calling Hamad on the carpet.I share his enthusiasm, he said. I understand people in Quebec City wanting a hockey team. But lets just say that when there is a financial transaction. it will be done my way.Earlier this month, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman vehemently denied the league is considering expansion to Quebec City or anywhere else.We dont want to build up anybodys expectations, he said at a Quebecor-organized event near Montreal. Were not in a position to expand. Were certainly not in position to expand into the East. Weve been very candid and up front that if, in fact, we go through an expansion process, the world will know about it. But were not looking to relocate any franchises, and were not looking to expand. Weve been very clear about that since Day One when we were told about the building of the new arena. ' ' '

And the Germans say they wont take it easy on Gibraltar in Nuremberg, wanting to stay on track to qualify for the European championship. Goal differential can sometimes come in to play as a tiebreaker, so even if the outcome is decided, the wave of German attacks on goal will continue. It is important to concentrate on the game against Gibraltar, said Germany defender Jerome Boateng. (SportsNetwork. James Donaldson Jersey .com) - The Oakland Athletics pulled off the first big trade of the baseball season Friday. Now theyll try to secure a series win over the Toronto Blue Jays at O.co Coliseum. Following their extra-inning win on Friday, the As acquired starting pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel from the Chicago Cubs for minor-league shortstop Addison Russell, minor-league outfielder Billy McKinney, pitcher Dan Straily and a player to be named later. The deal is expected to become official today. On Friday, Melky Cabrera misplayed a ball in left field, which allowed Derek Norris to score the winning run from first base off a double from Nick Punto in the bottom of the 12th inning on Friday to carry the As to a 1-0 win. Tommy Milone tossed six shutout innings and the bullpen did the rest, as six relievers combined to throw six more scoreless innings, with Dan Otero (7-1) earning the win. Chad Jenkins (0-1) allowed one run in his two innings of relief in taking the loss. The Blue Jays, who also lost 4-1 to Oakland in the Thursdays series opener, had nine hits, left 10 men on base and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Mark Buehrle will attempt to keep his bounce-back season going on Saturday. The veteran left-hander had a tumultuous few seasons after departing the Chicago White Sox, with whom he spent the first 12 seasons of his career. Buehrle was part of the influx of big free agents that signed with the Miami Marlins in 2012 only to be sent to Toronto the following offseason. After a middling campaign a year ago (12-10, 4.15 ERA), Buehrle, and the Blue Jays themselves, have been much better this year. The 35-year-old has pitched himself to a 10-5 record and posted an ERA of 2.50, which as it stands would be the lowest of his career. Should he maintain the pace he is on, Buehrle would break his previous nest mark (3.12 in 2005) by more than half a run. Buehrle pitched against the White Sox his last time out and allowed two runs over eight strong innings. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays were unable to find any offense to support him as they fell 4-0. It continued a disturbing trend for Buehrle, who has lost his last four decisions and has not earned a win since June 1. His career numbers against the As are solid enough (3.63 ERA), but he has never consistently pitched his teams to victory against them, with an 8-13 overall record against Oakland. Another lefty in the midst of a rebound year will oppose Buehrle in this one, as Scott Kazmir toes the rubber for Oakland. Kazmir, who was one a dominant force for the Rays, struggled following a trade in 2009 that sent him to the Angels. Kazmir never found his way in Los Angeles, going 11-17 with a 5.31 in parts of two seasons. After spending the 2012 outside of Major League Baseball, he caught on with the Indians last season and then signed with the As for this year. The returns have been phenomenal for Oakland, as Kazmir has gone 9-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 17 starts. He is also doing a great job of keeping runners off base (1.026 WHIP), despite a dip in strikeouts per nine innings (7.9). Kazmir bounced back from a miserable start when he last took the mound. Although he only lasted 5 1/3 innings, he managed to allow just a single run and strike out seven in a no decision against Detroit. In the previous start he had allowed a season-worst seven runs in just three innings against the Mets. Kazmir has already pitched against the Blue Jays this season, starting against them on May 23. He allowed three runs over seven innings of work to take a loss in a 5-2 final. In 19 career starts he is 10-6 with a 4.01 ERA against Toronto. Although Oakland has had the upper hand to start the weekend, Toronto has been the more dominant between these teams recently. The Blue Jays swept a three- game series at home from May 23-25 and won two of three in Oakland a season ago. Justin Jackson Jersey . "After consultation with the Team USA medical staff and officials, it was determined that he should return to Winnipeg as a precaution due to his previous injury history," Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said Wednesday in a statement. Derek Harper Jersey . The Los Angeles Clippers showed them just how ugly that life could be. Jared Dudley scored a season-high 21 points, Chris Paul added 16 points and 17 assists, and the Clippers jumped all over the Bulls in Roses absence for a 121-82 victory Sunday. https://www.cheapmavericks.com/ . And all things considered, the first 40 games have offered a little bit of everything from a hockey club that faced many questions in its first year under new management, with a new head coach and with a number of new faces in the lineup. However, with a recent dip in scoring, it seems some of the same old questions persist and several new ones have been raised after a somewhat troubling homestand. BOSTON -- The World Series trophy was in the building. Bill Russell was courtside. And the next Boston Celtics championship seems so very far away. The Celtics opened the season at home on Friday night without Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce or Doc Rivers -- or Rajon Rondo, for that matter -- and gave away a 22-point second half lead as the Milwaukee Bucks won 105-98 for their first victory of the season. The loss spoiled the home debut of new Celtics coach Brad Stevens and dampened the cheer in the city following the Red Sox victory in the World Series on Wednesday. Zaza Pachulia had 20 points and nine rebounds, making two free throws with 44 seconds left to give the Bucks their first lead since the opening basket. It was the second straight night Milwaukee fell behind early, having spotted the New York Knicks to a 25-point lead before coming back to tie it -- and then lose -- on Wednesday. "We have to figure this out, getting off to such a bad start," said Bucks coach Larry Drew, who earned his first victory after taking over for Jim Boylan. "Ive got to get my finger on it. Two straight games where we just got off to bad starts. It hasnt been great execution. Were just putting too pressure on ourselves defensively." Red Sox owners John Henry and Tom Werner took the court before the game with the World Series trophy, and Russell was also courtside a few hours after a statue of him was unveiled near City Hall. The 11-time NBA champion was honoured during a first-half timeout, and Stevens made sure his team watched. "There are things that are bigger than the game, although right now I dont feel good about life," the former Butler coach said. "To honour Bill Russell and to have us be in a huddle while theyre honouring Bill Russell wouldnt be right." John Henson had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Bucks, who scored the last 10 points of the game. In its opener on Wednesday, Milwaukee rallied to take a lead with 3:13 left before giving up 10 of the last 12 points. "The second time, same (bad start)" Pachulia said. "In New York, we just couldnt finish out the game. We have to fix the mistakes we make." Vitor Faverani scored 12 points wwith 18 rebounds for Boston. Josh Howard Jersey. Brandon Bass and Jeff Green each had nine rebounds for the Celtics, who scored 20 of the first 26 points in the game and led 72-50 with 19 minutes to play. But Milwaukee scored 11 of the last 14 points in the third quarter and then tied it 93-all with a 20-10 run to start the fourth. After Gerald Wallace hit a 3-pointer to give Boston back the lead, the teams traded free throws and then the Bucks scored the next 10 points. Milwaukee made 10 straight free throws to end the game, including two by Pachulia that made it 99-98. "We cant play like that. It all starts with me," Green said. "Weve got to get it going in the right direction and I take responsibility for that. We cant lose -- not the way we played in the first half." It was the first regular-season home game for the Celtics, who traded Pierce and Garnett to the Brooklyn Nets over the summer and sent Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers. Stevens replaced Rivers, making his NBA debut about a week after his 37th birthday. Injured point guard Rajon Rondo took over Pierces usual role of speaking to the fans before the opener. Wearing a suit and tie and a fake beard -- a tribute to the Red Sox -- Rondo welcomed the fans before taking a seat on the bench for the rest of the game. Rondo, who is recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee, is not expected to play for at least a month. The Celtics arent expected to be competitive until he returns, which is OK with the fans who want them to earn a high pick in what is said to be the deepest NBA draft in years. Boston came out and scored 16 of the first 20 points in the game and never led by less than seven points until the fourth-quarter collapse, when they were outscored 34-15. Faverani had 11 rebounds at halftime and Green had 11 points. NOTES: Celtics PG Avery Bradley was evaluated for a concussion on Friday but was cleared to play. ... Bucks PG Brandon Knight, who strained his right hamstring 2 minutes into Milwaukees opener, did not play. ... Russell sat courtside. ... Bostons Jared Sullinger returned from a one-game suspension after he was charged with domestic violence. The charges were dismissed by a judge. ' ' '
Each week, I watch the coachs copies of the previous games in preparation for the upcoming telecasts to have an understanding of how each team employs their schemes. Chris Chiozza Jersey . One week ago, I took a break from watching one of the games and had a chance to check e-mails and look at whats happening in the world. My twitter feed had conversations that had just talked about a shooting in Ottawa. I left my office and went and turned on the television to see what was happening. At the time, reports talked about three separate shootings areas and it was a very scary sight to see that happening in the capital of the country. I watched my film and took my notes the rest of the day glued to the TV, thinking of things more than football. This will happen often to coaches since we seem to be always in the office watching game films. I can remember being in the office for the Argonauts on September 11, 2001 watching with the rest of the coaching staff as my home country came under attack. A couple of years later, the office changed, the colours changed and I was trying to prepare a game plan while watching and hoping family members were safe in New Orleans as Hurricane Katrina plowed through in 2005. Last week reminded me of those difficult times. It lets you know that there is simply more important things than football that happen daily and we should always remember that as players and coaches. After Sept. 11, the CFL had originally decided to play games on the weekend and that was a much discussed topic for the league since all other leagues cancelled games. Our QB Jimmy Kemp spoke to the team a day or two after the events and told his teammates that although he is a team guy, that he would not play the games out of respect for what had happened. It was a difficult decision and Jimmy was and is a stand-up guy; everyone understood where he was coming from. Jimmys decision did not matter as the CFL changed its mind and cancelled games after further thought. I can remember how great Canadians were to the people of the US and did their utmost to help and show respect to the people who were lost on the 11th. I tried to show respect by searching all over Mississauga for a US flag. I finally found a large flag and had it hung up on the backside of our trailers at the Argo facility overlooking the practice fields. I wanted to have the Americans on the team who were in another country to have some connection to home they could see. The hardest part about working in professional sports is that, no matter what is happening, the games and seasons will have to go on eventually. No time was tougher and hit closer to home than when we lost our assistant head coach Richard Harris to a massive heart attack two days before a game in 2011. We had to mourn as well as prepare for a game in little or no time. The games go on and you have to get ready, even though you are in pain and want to take time to console others and help those in need. There was no tougher team meeting than when I had to tell our team the circumstances of Coach Harriss passing the following day. The support from the league and the fans was tremendous and the players honoured Coach Harris by finding a way to defeat the BC Lions after a moving moment of silence before the game in Winnipeg. That is the thing about actually playing the games, it allows us to honour as well as get our mind on things that we are passionate about, if only for a few hours. Last Friday, I believe the CFL was at the forefront of the support for all of Canada as the Redblacks hosted the Montreal Alouettes in Ottawa, the city that had been home to one of the attacks that resulted in the death of Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Everyone was able to have a moment of silence and pay tribute with the CFL to Cirillo and also Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent. As I was preparing to go to the studio, I was watching television coverage of the people who were lined up along the Highway of Heroes to again support Corporal Cirillo. From Ottawa all the way to Hamilton, the great people of Canada came from every town to tribute a fallen soldier who was a complete stranger to most. It was amazing and moving to see people trying to help the families of the fallen in any way possible. Hopefully sports and football can help people in times of struggle to have a release when it is needed. Nathan and Patrice, thank you for your support and your sacrifice and we will do our best to make sure you are not forgotten. I am an American who is very proud of his country, but I can also say that after last week, I am once again reminded of how proud I am to call Canada my home the past 14 years. Brendan Haywood Jersey . Especially after he got ejected. "How many innings was that?" he wondered. Gilbert Arenas Jersey . Schaub will start for an injured Case Keenum and try to help the Texans end a 12-game skid. Schaubs last action in Houston came when he took over late in a game against Oakland on Nov. 17 as Keenum was struggling. https://www.cheapwizardsonline.com/829k-kevin-loughery-jersey-wizards.html . HEROES P.K. Subban – Scored the overtime winner and assisted on Montreal’s earlier goal, both on the power play, in a 2-1 win over Nashville. The Vancouver Canucks (27-17-3) open the February portion of their schedule with their first meeting of the season against the Minnesota Wild (22-20-6). These teams will see plenty of each other in the next few weeks as three of the Canucks next nine games are against the Wild (after today they meet February 9th in Minnesota and again February 16th at Rogers Arena). New defenceman Adam Clendening is expected to make his Canucks debut today. He arrived in town Friday night and practiced with the Canucks yesterday paired with Luca Sbisa and saw time on the point on the second unit power play along with Dan Hamhuis. It appears Clendening will replace Yannick Weber. If that’s the case, the Canucks will have their youngest blueline of the season (Chris Tanev turned 25 in December, Sbisa turned 25 on Friday, Clendening 22 & Corrado 21). Derek Dorsett practiced with the Canucks yesterday for the first time since leaving Tuesday’s game against Anaheim after a collision with Ryan Kesler. The hard-nosed winger is a possibility to return to the line-up today. Five different Canucks scored in Friday’s 5-2 win over Buffalo. It was the first time the Canucks have scored more than four goals in a game since a 7-1 romp over Arizona on December 22nd. Nick Bonino scored the game winner on a second period power play. The goal was his team-leading fifth game winner of the season, but just his first power play goal as a Canuck. The Canucks scored an empty net goal on Friday and were also assessed a too-many men on the ice penalty. In both cases, that marked the 11th time this season they have hit the scoresheet in such fashion – the Canucks lead the league in both categories. There is no word on who will start in goal for the Canucks todaay. Ian Mahinmi Jersey. Ryan Miller has started the team’s last six games. Miller is 4-3 lifetime against the Wild while Eddie Lack is 1-0-1 with both games coming after the Olympic break last season. The Canucks and the Wild are two of three teams in the NHL this season with leading point-getters who are in single digits in goals (Daniel & Henrik Sedin 9+31=40 & Jason Pominville 9+29=38). Arizona’s Keith Yandle is the other. The Wild are here off a 1-0 win in Calgary on Thursday. Devan Dubnyk stopped 30 shots for the shutout and Zach Parise’s team-leading 20th goal of the season in the first period stood up as the winner. The Wild have won both of their games since the All-Star break giving up just one goal in the process. They are 4-1-1 in their past six games which follows a stretch in which they won just 2 of their previous 14 games (2-8-4). Dubnyk has started six straight games since being acquired from Arizona in mid-January. He’s 4-1 with the Wild with 2 shutouts a 1.66 GAA and a 93.1 save percentage. Dubnyk made 35 saves and blanked the Canucks 5-0 while with Arizona on November 14th at Rogers Arena. He also allowed three goals in relief duty in a 7-1 loss to the Canucks on December 22nd. The league’s ice-time leader Ryan Suter (average 29:29 a night) did not practice yesterday and is questionable with a lower body injury. Suter has just one goal on 94 shots this season (shooting percentage of 1.1%). Winger Justin Fontaine (groin) will not play today. Former Canuck Keith Ballard has been out since December 10th with a concussion and facial injuries. The Wild is 26th in the NHL on the power play (15.4%) and 28th in the league on the road (11.4%) scoring nine of its 25 PPG this season away from home. ' ' '
